Slugs indoors. Help!!!

It's highly unlikely they are living in your sofa - too dry for them. They have probably found a little gap and are coming in from outside - they can squeeze through VERY tiny gaps, even getting under a badly fitted door/window.
Slugs really only like to wander round houses at night so if you can manage to pop down after dark you might spot them and be able to put them back outside where they and you will feel happier.
They are very fond of crumbs too so try to keep food bits off the floor (I know, not easy when you've got a toddler!). I get them in my kitchen sometimes, the little blighters even make it onto the worktops so I can't leave anything uncovered.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your replies!
Glad to hear that it is unlikely that they are living in our sofa - or indeed our house at all!
It's so weird though - I can't imagine where they are coming in, and the weird thing is that the trails definitely originate/end up under the sofa - which is not on an external wall? We don't have a cat either, so not the reason for us am afraid, and no new pot plants or anything...
Would it be a good idea to put salt under the sofa? Don't want rotting slug mush corpes underneath... what about putting a beer trap outside the house to get them before they come in?
Thanks again

We have slug trails too! When we went on holiday we came back to a really frousty smelling house and trails in the hallway. The smell's now gone but we still get trails. Now they are appearing in the lounge too. The weird thing is that either they can fly or they are getting in in two places (grrr!). Must keep hunting though and stop the little blighters.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

I once actually saw a slug squeezing in between the door frame and skirting... I'd been putting off replacing the old aluminium patio doors for ages because of the cost, but after that I made up my mind!
While I was waiting for them to be done, I emptied a couple of tubes of silicone sealant into the hole (I guess expanding foam filler would work too), so if you can work out where they are coming in - maybe behind the sofa? - then you can try to stop them.
It might help to move the furniture round and see whether they still head for the sofa, or are coming from somewhere else.
Good luck!0 -

LOL!!!:rotfl:
Don't think so, as the trails go round and round over quite an area - asked DP but he insists it's not him!

Thanks for the extra replies and the link, (thanks pink) it seems it's salt. copper tape, beer or slug pellets are in order...
The thing is I just don't know where to put them as I don't know where the little suckers are getting in... cause the sofa is not on an outside wall - and the hallway which is the other side of that wall, has had no evidence of slime trails....and I also have the young child issue...
Am going to put slug pellets everywhere outside, and if that fails, salt around the sofa...
Thanks again, roll on the move is all I can say! I'll keep you updated...

Have you turned your sofa over and looked underneath it, wouldn't imagine they can stick to carpet, but maybe if it has a smooth underside??
