Slugs indoors. Help!!!

Try keeping slugs out of the home by fixing Mousemesh grills over air bricks. Mousemesh was originally designed to keep mice from entering homes via the holes in airbricks but the fine mesh keeps slugs (and other small pests) out of the home.0

Once we put down slug pellets down where the slugs were coming in we haven't had any more indoors.

I cut the top third off a large plastic pop bottle and invert the top into the bottom, this makes a sort of funnel going into the bottle. I secure this with sellotape.
I put slug pellets and a teeny tiny bit of cat food in the bottom of the bottle, the slugs get into it but can't get out, eat the slug pellets and die.
It works for me because all the grotty mess is contained in the bottle and it's not too vile a job to pick it up and bin the lot, although it still makes me heave!
I hate slugs...... a lot.0 -

I haven't read the thread, but I know salt kills them. In our old house I put salt round the skirting boards.0 -
Hi,
I appreciate that this is quite an old thread, but I am sure I am not the only one still with this problem.
What is puzzling me somewhat is that the trails are on the walls of an upstairs bedroom, with no trees or anything close to the window, so I cannot think where they came from.
Not very nice though!0 -
Slugs can get through the tiniest of spaces unfortunately. It sounds as if they may be in the walls. When I had them I used to get up in the middle of the night to catch them and put them out and eventually got rid of them all.Haters are gonna hate - you're not obliged to participate0

Thanks for such a prompt reply!
We actually live in a 300 year old timber framed thatched cottage, and have recently noticed the trails on the wooden beams (on the walls).
The cottage was all completely refurbished about eight years ago when we bought it, but this is the first time we have noticed any 'trails'... my wife actually found one on the carpet first, so they could have come from anywhere, I suppose.... even in through the beams, as the window is hardly ever open.
We will leave the room in darkness this evening, and I will check after a few hours in the hope that we will catch something!
Pleased to hear that you managed to get rid of yours anyway!0 -
I use wood ash in the garden to keep the beggars away, so a little on the threshold may helpBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
