Hi - i have won an auction for some nike trainers on ebay from a relatively new seller....on the listing it stated postage £9.99 for "Royal Mail Special Delivery (TM) Next Day Service" (as the only option) which i thought was pretty reasonable for heavy mens size 10 trainers lol....anyway i paid on eve of the 21st (april) so expected that as listing had specifically stated next day, i would receive them on wednesday 23rd ( due to it being an evening transaction obviously didnt expect them on them 22nd lol) but having not received them today (24th) i emailed seller asking when to expect items - he has responded saying to expect them on Saturday (so the 26th?!) as he only posted them today at 16:30....am i being a stroppy moo or is this pretty unreasonable?? To be honest, if he had just put "1st class delivery - £9.99" i wouldnt be miffed at all and would possibly still have bought the items and expected to receive them on saturday lol BUT surely if he has chosen to list with this as only postage option he should honour that as it was a "binding contract" on ebay???? Help! lol...i am sure i will get people saying how sellers charge extra postage etc etc which is fine if he had just stated it was normal post etc but he didnt lol....i know it wouldnt be excessive, £9.99 for heavy item in first class but surely that isnt the point?? What should i do anyone who gets what i am rambling about lol? i have emailed him just explaining nicely about the postage issue without being too blunt but not received a reply as yet........
(ps sorry for ranting lol!)

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Not everyone lives near a post office, or can get off work everyday to post things."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

no but even so if he is posting using a NEXT DAY DELIVERY service then surely if he posted it TODAY it should arrive TOMORROW......?????????
Edit : Unless my understanding of "next day delivery" is totally wrong..........and surely its pretty misleading to imply that the buyer will be getting NEXT day delivery ie pretty sharpish delivery when its gonna take 5 days....???????Baldrick, does it have to be this way? regardless of the postage service offered I believe ebay allows sellers 7 days to actually post the item. The Special delivery next day bit only applies once the seller has posted the item. the special delivery can be for several reasons as a seller not necessarily to get it to the buyer quicker. Gives seller trackability and insurance etc.
But as far as ebay are concerned this seller has done fine, posted within 7 days and as long as he has used special delivery then he has fulfilled his contract.
Richardif i had known then what i know now0 -
okay cool - well thanks for the clarification although i still feel a bit duped lol.....only cos if he is saying he posted it TODAY then surely it should arrive TOMORROW using next day delivery?????Baldrick, does it have to be this way?
Im with you big momma as soon as he had admitted posting item based on his listing you should have the next day. i reckon he was initially trying to make some extra money by charging 9.99 and sending standard post therefore explains why you will receive it so late (he may have even been really tight and sent 2nd class). If he has sent standard then 9.99 is a rip off. I send trainers first class with postage charged at between £3.00-£4.50 depending if boxed. When received mark him down on reasonable postage rating!!
0

you can only list special delivery
on ebay if you can guarunttee
delivery within one day on the
listing ending it is classed as `get it fast`:j:j:j0 -
oh help - so many people saying different things lol
And seller still hasnt responded grrrr lol
So should i consider a Neutral feedback do u reckon...dont wanna Neg him (i have never neg'd anyone lol...!) but as he has already left me positive feedback i can leave a neutral without too much risk lol......i hate to do it as he is a new seller but i think its just a bit cheeky to imply i will get speedy delivery when it gonna be 5 days!!!!!!!!!!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Special delivery was specified to cover the cost of the item and to comply with paypals seller requirements. As long as he posted within 7 days you don't really have a gripe.0

no im sure you can offer SD as a postage option
its only when the seller offers get it fast that it requires posting the next day
the cut off time for SD varys from PO to PO ,sp they may have advised him it may not arrive tomorrow
probel there is he wont have paid for saturday delivery meaning it could technically be held over until monday.
unlikely though0 -
hmmmmm still not convinced but i shall take your word for it custardy.........my postie hoards things anyway lol, i won't get ANY mail for 3 days and then i get a whole BOX full ....then nothing again for a week.
