Can someone tell me what the (monthly Direct Debit) kWh prices are for Gas & Electricity for Scottish Power's Fixed Price Energy Online 2011? I just want to compare them to EDF's Online V5 tariff to see if it's worth swopping.

    Thanks

The prices vary depending on which part of the country you live in.

But they are all available on the Scottish Power website.

I've got this far but still a little unsure...

Living in Brum, I see I come under Supply Area Code 14. We currently pay a standing charge... so far so good... but

I'm confused by the "single type/two rate" meter type ? The booklet mentions if you have two sets of prices, I'm a single type, or if you have three sets of prices, I'm a two rate???

Advice on this appreciated! Thanks :)

Two rate meter in Brum would be Economy 7.

Other areas have E10 as well as or instead of E7.

    Are you on Economy 7?
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    Thanks BexTech.

We're not on E7/E10...looking at our SP bill we have just one charge rate 2.660 (gas) and 8.869(elec) and daily standing charges of 10.950 and 12.740.

Hope this makes more sense to you...

Yeah, those are single rate meters.

Some tariffs offer no standing charge. This is where you get two tier pricing, you have a higher first tier to take into account the no standing charge (Means you are paying for the standing charge in the higher first tier rate). No standing charge may be ideal if you often go away and are not at home or you are trying really hard to cut down on usage. On average there is little difference in a NSG tariff and one with - unless you spend time away quite often.

With E7 you'd be on a two-rate meter, again you could have a tariff with a standing charge or one without.

With a standing charge you'd just have a day rate and a night rate.

Without a standing charge the day rate would be tiered and a single night rate.

Thanks again BexTech. This is making more and more sense now! :)

Don't think I have a two separate day and night charges on my existing Scottish Power (online dual fuel) - just one flat rate ?

And one last question - have managed to look up the relevant prices in the fixed rate booklet (thanks to your help) but surprising the gas and elec rates are exactly the same as I am currently paying (???) , only the standing charges are increasing from 10.95p to 15.64p (gas) and 12.74p to 17.43p (elec) ??? Surely that can't be right, can it ?

    Could be right.

Though I've done a check and there is a very slight change in the unit prices from the online discount tariff they offer and the fixed price offer, but only very slight and a fractionally higher first tier (I'm no standing charge).

You're right again, BexTech. Just rang SP who have confirmed as much.

For me (on the energy online saving) the actual charge rates are the SAME!!! The only difference is the increase in standing charge (£1.50/m each for gas and elec) so that's on overall increase in £36/y so for me it's got to be worth the gamble.

Thanks again for your help with this.

I think have decided to switch to the SP 2011
I am going to save money based from my current EDF quarterly bill tariff (I could save more else ware but the fix seems good especially as I can dump it if energy prices fall ).

One question that does not seem to have been asked. I am renting at the moment and quite likely to move in the next 6mths to a year either because the landlady will sell (its been on the market 3mths now) or we will buy (just waiting to see what happens!).

Any way can I take this fixed SP Tariff to a new address ? because if not it might be better for me just to go with the cheapest.

Several have mentioned £75 from Quidco but I am only being offered £62 is their a trick?

If it helps we are in SWALEC area.

    Thanks in advance
