Trying really hard to OS but the prices keep going up

This op seems to have serious problems both psychologically and with pms.(which personally can be partly psychosomatic. I have know women who change their outlook form dreading their periods to accepting it as part of nature and they have found their pms to deramatically improve). Also she seems to have beliefs re food and eating that I personally would consider a concern.
With love and care I really do hope the OP gets some help for her issues.
With the exception of the last line, I think that this post is very harsh. What qualifies you to diagnose aproblems from what you have read of someone's posts on the internet?
And, completely off topic, but I would dispute your claims that PMS can be psychosomatic. accepting that they are natural does not make symptoms easier to bear. Death is natural. Does that make bereavement easier????0 -
My boy would be all for a change of my diet if it makes me into a good mother0

You didnt but the op does suggest that a diet is the answer to what are obviously major issues.. This concerns me.What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -

Maybe you have a point here Haribo in that in some sense I dont know the op. But what i do know is what she posted and as an intelligent woman with some psychological background, it is quite clear to me that the op has issues far more serious than her food budget. I am not being harsh. I as a fellow human being who is very kind and caring and always puts everyone else first genuinely feel for the op and her obviously awful and problematic life and to be honest I am pointing this out in the hope that the op gets the help she needs.
As for your comments about death, I can't really add to that as I have not suffered any bereavement personally so really cannot comment on how easy it is.
Obviously I have unwittingly offended you by the fact that I care. I will try not to in future. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Leiela,
I've thought very carefully about your post during the morning and all I can advise you is that YOU will have to decide what's more important to YOU personally. Either the diet you follow, which makes you feel good about yourself & your self image, or paying off debts which doesn't make anyone feel good about themselves. I don't honestly think that you can 'do it all' as in eating the diet you like and paying off your debts so one has to give slightly. If the diet/lifestyle makes you feel so much better with the PMS and gives you a positive self image and belief then you have to reduce your debt payments or other payments somewhere else in order to follow it.
There's only so much money 'in the pot' and you can't make it do everything. Not a critisism as nobody can do it all - I certainly can't and make adjustments where I can to juggle it all about. I wish you every luck and hope that you can find a way of making it work for you and your family which is what's important.
Edited to add: Yes I have too seen the prices going up alarmingly quickly in all the supermarkets from Netto to M&S and am finding ways of absorbing the extra costs as I am at a level where I don't want to reduce even more. This time last year I could feed us well for £70 - £80 a week now its more like £100+ for the same meals etc.0 -

In some sense??? You don't know her at all, and having some "psychological background" doesn't qualify you to highlight what you "think" her problems are on an internet forum, regardless of how well you know her.
IMHO, of course. :cool:0 -
Hi Leila,
I understand your concerns, I have also noticed a huge hike in the prices of some products and even small increases really make a difference to the price at the till point, especially if you need to eat alot of protein.
The suggestion about bulk buying at Makro is a good one, that should help you quite a bit if you've got enough freezer room.
I myself suffered quite badly from PMS and depression though not as badly as you and I know the difference a change of diet can make, a lot of ppl don't realise how much of an effect refined sugars and processed foods can have on the body. I also know the fear that the thought of slipping back into a state of depression and anxiety can create, however what I would say is that you can easily control your diet and health in a less extreme and therefore cheaper way.
Obviously you eat as much protien due to your body building, but if you gave that up, you could still maintain your healthy eating on smaller portions, at least that way you could continue to be a good mother and a healthy person without worry.
Can I also say that it's not fair of anyone to judge anyone else on why they do a particular thing, unless you've walked a mile in their shoes so to speak. We're not here to judge just to share our friendly advice, it's up to the OP if they take it or not.0 -
I'm not sure, no in fact I'm certain, that if that is the case then this isn't the place for the op to receive help. If her life is so awful and problematic then she needs to seek professional help and not post on what is basically a household help forum.0

Haribo if you refer to my posts you will see that I have read what SHE posted as being her problems as I mention but you missed out in your highlighting.
Chattie, I wholeheartedly agree. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0
