Got my weekly shop in Asda today (north west Wales) and my 2pt skimmed milk was 86p, last week and for a while now it has been it has been 80p, earlier this year it was 76p, when I was visiting in Somerset last month it was 72/3p in Tesco, is it just the area I live in or is that the price country wide now?
Couldn't think which forum to put this on, so feel free to move if it is in the wrong place!look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.0 -
I don't drink milk anymore, but I never used to take any notice of the price. Can't believe how much people whinge about price rises on the stuff. Why doesn't anyone whinge about how little the farmers get paid for it?0

I buy my milk from a farm shop. It is from a local dairy and is unhomogenised so has the cream line. I pay £1.25 for a 4 pint carton. The 2 pint cartons are 75p. It has only recently gone up from £1.20.
Tesco and Waitrose where I also shop are much more expensive.0 -
Thats nothing compared to the price hike I've experienced this week on UHT milk at Asda.Last week it was £2 for 4 1lt cartons so effectively 50p per carton. This week its 72p per carton!!!!!!
How can they justify these increases its ridiculous

We use 2 x 6-pint ones a week. I think they've gone up to £2.25 a week.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I do agree with you, lovelyjubbly - the price hike is high in such a short period of time. I feel sorry for anybody with limited income and young children - thank goodness mine are all grownup now though I do have grandchildren.
Have to admit that we buy mostly the long-life skimmed (SmartPrice version) though I try to get a bottle of fresh semi-skimmed for when I know that grandchildren will be visiting.
I also appreciate how little of that money actually goes to the farmer - but a very difficult situation if you're not in a position to get it directly from a milk-producer.0 -
