Is it worth stockpiling to save money in the long run, tinned stuff, rice and pasta. The farmers were pouring away milk and lots of countrys have stopped exports. So should you start a food stash just in case.
There was no coconut milk to be had anywhere this weekend.
I think we are gonna be in for food shortages by this time next year.
I wish I had the money to stockpile, I think it's a very good idea at the moment. My fridge and freezer are almost empty, which makes the freezer very inefficient to run, not very MSE at all!!! My storecupboard is just as bad, for the first time ever there was no tinned tomatoes when I needed them over the weekend.
I've just started an online shop and I'm already up to 50 quid, I've next to nothing in my basket. There's no chance of meat or fish this month, unless it's from the reduced shelf, but I daren't go into any supermarket as I end spending too much as there always seems to be something we've run out of.0 -
Fizzel81 - we already have bread with every meal - if theres a sauce to mop up etc. It helps to fill us up but provides us some nice fibre too - im lucky though in that I work in a coop so at 5/6pm when all the bread and rolls are reduced down I have a gander - and if theres lots at 7pm i grab a basket and fill it so there is cheap bread/rolls in my freezer all the time.
Tibbies mum - Im terrible for this - I make sure that if i go into town I walk through Tesco. So far this month with my £10 whoopsie money Ive had, chicken portions (5 thighs and 6 drumsticks), joint of beef finest top rump, pork escalopes, chicken kievs, whole chicken and pack of sausage rolls and I still have 50p left!Time to find me again0 -
maybe this should be in grabbit but might help someone here. Sainsburys 4 pint milk is now 2 for £2 (£1.40 each) Worth freezing a few if you have room.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

We had 8 kittens until beginning of March and I was buying a bag of fish a week, bought the value fish fillets frozen for them, it was cheaper than Asda's for more now Asda is £1.60 and Tesco is £2.54! Won't be doing that again.
Yep, I usually buy the Tesco Value fish fillets and I am sure I paid £1.47 last month, today they are £2.45!0 -
Hi folks
Tibbies mum... you know when your freezer doesn't have a lot in it.. drop in a couple of empty boxes..crisp boxes etc... it makes it more efficient to run-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

A few years ago there was a documentary on cheap sausages with the slogan "sausages cheaper than dog food". Asda defended it's posistion by putting the price up above dog food.
Oh how things change!Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -

I wouldn't fancy these but I think we are reaching a point where some families are going to have no choice but to buy items like these.
I have already seen families on here and living around me that cannot extend their food budget any further, they buy value products already and the prices keep on rising.
Thankfully we are not at that point yet but I can see it coming.
Luckily I stocked up on Pasta and Rice before the prices went up and I am going to be stocking up on as much as I can fo the future as I do think things are going to get worse.
