Well, I would rather move down a step ala Martin than get a second job!More fool them I say. I do find Aldi /Lidl veg tasteless though. We had their Chatenay carrots the other week and they were horrible and ended up in the bin, so that was a false economy!

Just looked up the fish in Tesco and can't believe the price. We had 8 kittens until beginning of March and I was buying a bag of fish a week, bought the value fish fillets frozen for them, it was cheaper than Asda's for more now Asda is £1.60 and Tesco is £2.54! Won't be doing that again.

I bought Asda value fish fillets yesterday, dd and oh had them deep fried in batter, both preferred them to they chippy ones, and I'm happy cos they were cheaper! Will be buying some more to do a fish pie and mini fish bites in breadcrumbs to stick in freezer. Will make sure I stick to Asda ones though, bit of a price hike for the Mr T ones!

Milk is still £2 for 2 x 4 pints of cravendale - only a couple of cartons out of promo end yesterday, but plenty with the normal milk.

Asda rice is still at higher price in one nearest us, yet the one near where I work it has dropped back down! Madness!

I checked my spending this morning, comparing last year to this year.

Last year's monthly average was £264.77
    This year's is £294.79

And the prices are still going up  We're going to extend the veg patch and get a bigger greenhouse.

We're eating less pasta and more potatoes.

If things get really bad, I will consider buying a cow for the milk :D

  • Blinkin' mental isn't it.

I've really noticed huge hikes, even just from one week to the next on stuff and not just a few pence, rises like 50p!!! And even from one day to the next prices are rising.

I can't spend anywhere near as little as I used to now.
