Trying really hard to OS but the prices keep going up

Has your friend had a money makeover? You don't always notice if your paying too much for utilities, living expenses etc.
I'm comfortable moneywise but it is getting tight. Instead of buying fresh fruit and veg (onions and peppers mainly) I now buy them from the freezer. They are much, much cheaper and really good.
On an tangent;
I was listerning to local radio today and they had a doctor regarding liver problems related to drink. He said the price of alcohol needs to go up to reduce problems. He then explained that the latest tax rises on alcohol had not been directly passed on to alcohol, instead supermarkets have decided to put subsidise alcohol and put the price of fresh veg up to compensate. It was easy to hide price rises on fresh stuff than alcohol.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -

Hmmmm.....so we'll all be too drunk to notice we havent got enough to eat or enough money to pay our fuel bills is it?:cool:
Me - I could be drunk for £1 with my low level of alcohol consumption - as I gather one can buy 4 cans of cheapo cheapo lager for that - but I think I will keep all my wits about me to live as well as possible with the new status quo (and - being me - to do my tiny little bit protesting about it).0 -
Well me and boyfriend ran the cupboards down to literally nothign this month adn have decided to do it each month to ensure everythgin gets used and theres no 'gone offs' lurking in the back of the cupboard - we did the same with the freezer and fridge too.
Went to Mr T and what would noramlyy cost me £40 - £45 to stock back up ended up costing me £64!!:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: There was no 'extras' on my list at all.
I always have a look in the whoopsie section and graba few bits form it but i think i will jsut buy the whole thing next time and save myself some money and learn to eat new things! Thank god i work in the coop - i raid the whoopsie aisle here too adn alove a sunday shift becasue if things are reduced down to 10p like veg and fresh rolls, my supervisor can never be bothered at the end of the night because all the mark downs have to go through the till and reduced that way which takes forever, and shes like 'oh just take them' instead so I make sure i have a few good bags of rolls and oh how i wish i had a bigger freezer!.Time to find me again0 -

If you can, it may be worth stocking up on dry/frozen goods that you always buy now, in preparation for a price rise.
I used to buy Sainsbury's white bread flour 48p/kg. This week it has gone up to 98p/kg! I wish I had bought 6 bags of the stuff last week!
Bread flour is 48p in Mr T's, and is back down to 48p in Asda after they put the price up to silly money. Also, Asda value rice is back down to normal price - 43p I think - with a big rollback sign on it :rolleyes:GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

I've just been to Somerfield and they've already put their milk up... 82p for 2 pints.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
