Do you know what I am getting really tight now. They had some danish pastries the other day in sainburys for 30p and I said no. They often reduced to less than that at 10 or 15p each :rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:

I try my best to buy from the reduced section of Tesco, but I don't think they actually reduce the food that is going to go off as much as they used to these days, it's like 20p/30p off
So, I have a choice of buying a meat with a quick eat by date or buying fresh at normal cost and bulking it out as much as poss with veg (and making it last longer).
Yesterday I bought 2 baking potatoes for #75p, and at the greengrocers I went in to buy ONE green pepper - #1.40, had to decline and went back to tesco for the three pack instead.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Here petrol today is £1.19 and diesel £1.29. The thing that worries me though is that red tractor diesel is today at 67.50ppl. The farmers are trying to get potatoes in and start silage - so that cost will only cause food prices to rise later in the year.We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

I shopped in Mr T's today - rare shopping trip for me since I discovered Lidls. The prices were far higher than the last time I was there so I'll stick to Lidls. Although their prices are rising too their produce is a lot cheaper than the big supermarkets. Their carpark is much busier than it used to be so the bigger stores must be losing customers to the discount ones." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I need to invest in one of those granny trollies so I can visit Birmingham Market. The fruit and veg down there is good value (well was the last time I went) but it weighs a ton and I can't carry it back to the office without knackering my arms! Not to mention being 32 weeks pregnant it's a fair jaunt for my weeble like body these days.
I wish I had a local farmers market and the like but they don't run anything like that by me unless is expensive deli stuff.
On the plus side I am growing my own lettuce and it's coming on a treat so farI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

I have started to keep all of my receipts to check how the prices are increasing.
Tesco Easy Cook rice (small 500g bag) was 52p on the 11th April, today on their website it is 75p.0
