Im completely ticked off with the whole dam thing to be quite honist.
My old computer with windows xp ran faster then this thing!
and whats really annoying me at the moment is when im typing on here its taking about 10 seconds to catch up when the cursor goes down to the next line! :(

If you install crap like Mcafee, what do you expect?

Get rid of it and stick one of the many recommended free ones on. Or if you don't mind paying, stick what I use on.. http://www.eset.co.uk/smartsecurity/index.php
  • Right nevermind ill try sort it out myself

Maybe if your thread title was "Having Problems with Mcafee Please Help" instead of "put your hands up if you hate Vista" then you would'nt have more people discussing the merits of Vista than the problem with your Antivirus.

Anyway Im telling you Mcafee is renowned as !!!!!. If possible remove it and stick on a better, free alternative. cant see anything wrong in that.

Have you used adaware to scan your system for malware? Also, do a free virus check at bitdefender.com.
  • thanks for actually helping ronben
i brought mcafee and i cant afford to just get rid of it, im a student and dont have much money and when the free ones werent doing any good i went for the most popular named one. Everything was fine until this personal firewall thing kept popping up. Ive tried turning it off but it just keeps either saying you cant because of an error or says its not running because it had problems and was closed. Im going to have to think about restoring it all to factory settings because i am completely at the end of my rope now and am at the point of thinking about throwing my laptop against a wall.

  • after spending an hour on mcafee support i think i may have figured out the problem. after the stupid website took me around in circles i managed to get on to the live chat. Whether its with a clever computer or a not so clever human they didnt really help much but did manage to show me how to get on to the services settings so i can then change around the start and stop options and completely disable the personal firewall so i dont keep receiving pop ups. I spent 30 minutes giving this person/machine a chance to fix my computer but after waiting and waiting for the slow replys to come i didnt really get anywhere so i said goodbye and closed the conversation and had a play myself. So far so good no errors have come up. If it all starts again and im in the same situation when i boot up in the morning, i will think about restoring the system to its factory settings. Thanks ronben for your help! i will see how it goes
