    This was my offer.

    Dear Mr D*****
There's no doubt about it – right now you need to make a move or you'll miss out. We're offering a stunning 3.9% pa fixed until 1 February 2006, and then at 15.9% pa variable, on balances transferred to your Egg Card from now until 30 September 2005.

Hmm - luckier than me then:
    Dear Mr Herring

We've noticed you haven't used your green Egg Card for a while now.

This e-mail is to inform you that any balances you transfer to your green Egg Card between now and 30 September 2005 will be at the rate of 5.9% pa fixed until 1 February 2006, and then at 15.9% pa variable.

Select the link below to find out more about this special rate.

I got an offer from Egg today too... "Get yourself an upgrade at 7.9% APR typical". Thing is I was close to my limit last time I upgraded and if they think I'm going back to 7.9% when I've got 6.9%, they must be deluded...

Fortunately I know this is just an annual mailshot, just last year the rate was lower than my rate at the time and the money was more useful to me!

  • Speaking to Egg today and someone mentioned that the Blue card was being replaced by a product called the 'Egg Money card'. As my enquiry was about my Blue card I naturally asked about the difference between Blue and the new card. I said was it was anything to do with an offset savings account?

There was a thoughtful pause, and they said they would check to see whether there was any information they were allowed to give me about it. Not surprisingly, there wasn't. :)

But we've got a name, anyway:

    The Egg Money Card

Anyone want to marry that up with the one right guess so far, whatever it is?

  • I have to say i do like the name of the card i can't wait to c if's any better than the green egg card i have at present.

Just wondering, do you by any chance have to pay a 2% balance transfer fee, or are you exempt?

Just wondering why your rate is 2% lower than mine and others?

    Cheers, Des.

It depends how long you've had your Egg card. Apparently their T&Cs have been undergoing a few changes.

I've just been told that newer customers, those who applied after March (or maybe it was May?) 2005, will have to pay a 2% BT fee. Those who've had their cards longer won't, whether they are in their anniversary 0% period or not.

Don't know whether the newer customers have a fee-free period for BTs at any time or not.

That is sort of the point of my question, I do not have to pay a 2% fee, but I was wondering if 'sicker' does have to pay the fee, and hence even though I do not have to pay the fee, i am being penalised by getting an apr which is 2% higher?

    Cheers, Des.

I (sicker) have had my card since April 2004. I have just done a £7600 (90%) transfer to my current account with no fee. This will be at 3.9% until February 2006. The difference between this and the 5% from A&L online saver is not much but I have made the effort and having to pay back about £150 a month by dd to egg is just like money in the bank

    John

ps I have also just finished my anniversary period with no trans fee and am now hopefully waiting for the same in april 2006.
