  • I saw some bitumen tar stuff removed from a carpet using stuff called Stainz-R-Out. It's banana based and I use it for all sorts. Apparently it even removes spray paint from surfaces!

With tar, you should blot it (prob too late now tho) and then apply a glycerine solution (50/50 glycerine and water). Then clean with a carpet cleaner.

    Thanks for the replies.
Just to update - I rang my mum for some help too. She advised me to scrub it hard with butter/marg and then wash with hot soapy water. The result -clean carpet :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:

Maybe this will help someone else.

I'm not sure TBH - she told me it worked by transferring the stain onto the butter. Its worth a try? You need to have hot soapy water (i used star drops) on hand to clean up the butter.

If you don't have any swarfega just try washing up liquid.
