Most suggest putting it in a plastice bag and placing in the freezer. When its gone hard you can pick it off.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

I agree with Rikki - pop the jacket in the freezer. Failing that I think stain devils do a chewing gum remover (not very OS though). Good luck.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

the stain devils stuff does work although as you say not very os, i used it after freezing and picking off as it was smeared allover dds coat from some on the seat of a chair she laid her coat on, the freezing got most off but needed the stain devil for the worst bits, yuk!Member 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4

Or the other way is to put brown paper over the gum( a bag will do) and iron over the paper. The heat will remove the gum to the paper. HTH0

I am so annoyed, my raincoat has got some chewing gum on it and ive only just spent £18 getting it dry cleaned and re-proofed. I've read all the suggestions, how ever i dont want to spoil the coat as i dont know what chemicals they put to reproof it, neither do i want to put any oils or solvents, unless someone who knows about the chemicals can advise me, this coat cost me £75 ten years ago and was a great timeless investment, i'd hate to have to get rid of it because of the chewing gum. I went to my local dry cleaners who got the chewing gum out by using steam, she was so nice and didnt charge me to do it. She said not to put any oils, washing up liquid or solvents on dry clean only clothes, only on clothes that can be washed or else you end up with an oil stain. And yes the lady in the avatar is me

Hi, my darling daughter came home from school yesterday with chewing gum all over the lapel of her new dark woolen coat
I put the coat in a plastic bag in the freezer overnight and have managed to pick off the majority of the gum but there's still quite a bit of it embedded in the wool.
Any ideas on how to remove this or will I have to bite the bullet and put it into the dry cleaners?
Many thanks

If you actually hold an ice cube onto the fabric for a few seconds, that might help you pick off the last remnants that are stuck to it.0
