If you want to check the registered owner of a website just use whois:
    http://www.nominet.org.uk/ (for .co.uk)

    http://whois.domaintools.com/ (for .com)

(Of course people can give fake info when registering a domain or hide it using domain privacy - another big red flag if it's a business website)

Funny how the organisation, the company, the street the city and the province all have the same name! Maybe dian ying means 'fake boots' or 'big scam' in Chinese?

  • I can't stand them, I think they look like granny-boots! One of my friends is Australian and she was saying that down-under in Oz they're worn as slippers and no-one would even dream of wearing them to the grocery store, let alone to go 'out' in. She said she wants to yell at people she sees wearing them like they're a fashion accessory, I spent Sunday on Oxford Street with her and she kept tensing up every time a pair went past... Generally with jeans tucked in which makes me want to scream lol
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

Whats the point of going to Nominet to check whois when domaintools can do ANY domain?

Its Ok you saying please dont reply like this, I didnt come on here for help, Ive put it down to experience. I came on here to try to help people and stop them making the same mistake as me. but all people have done is quoted the web site as though I am stupid, and laughed at me "lol lol lol lol owned" so please dont patronise me. I know when someone is trying to help and when they are not.

Thankyou for your comments but as I paid with a direct debit card I havnt got much chance of getting my money back. I have written to the Trading standards here and in Australia and also the ASA.

Right on girl - I don't think you have any issues at all - they were all taking the michael and you most certainly DID NOT deserve it! I very nearly just got scammed myself and luckily just before pressing pay did a bit of research. I would have replied "like that" myself if I'd of received those responses :)

Heres a site I found with lots of info if you are thinking about buying any kind of Ugg boot online:

Well it wouldnt let me add the link as I am a first timer so it was on alltheshoes co uk

    Fake uggs article :)
  • I got conned too, well my boyfriend did trying to buy an Xmas gift for me.

Ive emailed the company and tried to get a refund, after some really funny emails from someone called "sandra" ive got nowhere.

She asked me if i could give them to a friend or if i ordered more id get a great discount (yeah cheers)

Only when i threatened to tell her what i did for a living she supplied me with the Chinese return address.
Then added she'd charge me for handling fees of £40.

Its not worth trying to return or trying to get your money back. We paid £62. The boots themselves were fake, smelt of fake fur and dye, were remarkably well stitched however (probably by a nimble handed Chinese 4 yr old)

I've put it down to experience and learnt from it and have since used an Ugg Australia authorised online retailer. This was after going to Bank Clothing (registered store) to try on and look at their stock.

Ive had to pay £180 for the boots from toad footwear but I have no doubt they are the real thing.

If it looks a good deal than its usually a bad one. Mine thuggs (lol)will now be used for dossing around the house or mucking out my horse:rotfl:

i want a pair of uggs, but i donot want to buy on official website because i have not enough money afford them. is there anyone who can give me some advice. thanks in advance!:)

Keep an eye out on the grabbits board, frequently offers come up for genuine uggs. I recently purchased some EMU stingers from amazon for 80quid which are usually 160. Not UGGs but very similar.
    :hello:

i'm a student and like uggs. now i want to buy a new pair.:D
  • :embarasse lol - just bought from - although the guy has replied to my e-mails, I get the feeling from reading various posts, I won't be getting a decent pair of UGG's! I bought through PayPal - is there not some safety net for poor quality boots? Also, if anyone did buy from this site - how long did delivery take roughly?!

    Thanks
as far as I know, I have bought on pair of UGG boot online, and it took about 5days to reach me, not too bad. the quality is not too bad.all in all, I am satisfied with my deal this time:)
