Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

Working is messing up my flylady thread reading no end...

ssl - there's nothing I like better than someone getting a new garden! I love talking over possibilities! I would avoid Leyland cypress, which is what you may be thinking of for hedging. It grows a metre a year, which is great until it's tall enough and then you realise it carries on growing at that rate forever, and will cost you a fortune to keep trimmed. It will overshadow your garden, and the roots take all the moisture so you won't be able to grow anything near it, not even grass. My neighbour had planted them 18 years ago, and I hated them. Happily, the new neighbour hated them too, and had them removed, at quite some expense. Can I suggest getting hold of Alan Titchmarsh's two books How to be a Gardener? The first one is on growing stuff, and the second on designing your own garden. They're excellent, and if you can track donw the videos (try the library), they are great too.

Pink Fairy - there's quite a few good gardeners on here - dusty is absolutely spot on about the soil, I'd have said acid too. Keep the salix away from any drains, also the weeping willow. They are terribly pretty as little trees, but definitely not for small gardens, and nowhere near foundations. Acers tend to leaf up late. Try scraping a little bit of bark with your thumbnail. If it is green underneath, the plant is alive. If brown, may be dead, but give it until later in the year before heaving it out.

hollyh and her ds2 - hugs

mudbat - huge hugs, that isn't great news. I hope you will be recovering very soon.

    G&B - Happy birthday!

Huge congratulations to johanne and her OH on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby girl!!!

Off to search the fridge/cupboards for food. Must be something edible left. Spaghetti again I think...

PS, just so this is not totally off topic, I have put some washing in, and will do the washing up in a minute. The kids should do their own rooms.

Evening all, kids fed, washing up done, firemen due at 7:00pm

DS1 is glowing with pride he has just been called to play his first 'men's' cricket match tomorrow. It is for the third team but when you are just a month past 14 that is quite good going. The joy of washing grassy whites for the next 4 months.

Need to take DS2 to youth club now.

    BBL oh gardeners world tonight

Congratulations to Johanne, welcomes to Sarah, the new flybaby!!

I am so glad it's kids rooms today & I don't have any!! Been to the gym, another full 20 minutes running! Then got home & walked the poochie.

Gah! doesn't sound like much but I am knackered now!

I'm selling my car too, I put a notice in the window on my way to gym, and I've already got a guy who wants a test drive tomorrow! I don't think I'll get any more than £200 for it, but I just want to get rid now, £1.15 for diesel! Getting too expensive to run.

I need your reviews on wii fit - do you have the board thing you stand on? It seems a lot of cash. We already have a wii but I've never tried the couple of games we have.

Quiet now. DS3 bathed and watching a bit of tv - he has had a friend so not watched any today.
    DS2 at youth club
DS1 in his room, he is supposed to be revising - I shall require evidence.

    RANT
Forgot to tell you about when I was in Halifax earlier. Really long queue and only 3 positions. Middle guy is on hard sell to an elderly lady trying to get her to make an appointment with an FA. She really was not keen and he was using very pushy sales tactics - whilst we all waited, so on the way out I had a right moan to one of the supervisors and told him I was not impressed by their treatment of the elderly!

    RANT OVER

Going to sort some paperwork to find my postal vote form as I've just had a phone call to ask if I posted it yet. We live in a really tight ward so they do their upmost to get voters out - trouble is I can't decide who to vote for.
