  • Yeah spat, the chips are basically just potatoes chopped up to look like chips, sprayed with fry light (and whatever spices/seasoning takes your fancy), and stuck in the oven to bake! (although, I've found the chips hold their shape better if you par boil them first for even just 5 mins?) - oh - and they're free on a green day!! :D

As for the HM Sausages - I'm intrigued Northern Lass - tell us more!!

We had a sausage casserole on Monday night (recipe in this months mag I think), it was delish, but the sausages were 1 syn each! I know Morrisons do the syn free ones, but they never seem to have any in the one near us!

    xx
  • I know Morrisons sausages can be free but they were boring plain por ones so i decided to try and make my own and they worked out lovely.

i use a pack of pork mince, blend it in a food processor along with some boiled onlins (drain as much water away as you can or it goes sloppy), then i added extra flavourings like apple, i also used wholegrain mustard, but you can add a splash of tobasco for heat or curry powder for flavour the choice is yours. You can add an egg for binding but i found it made the mixture sloppy so tried it with out and they were fine. Once the meat looked like paste i shaped it into sausage shapes and grilled it, they were lovely and a big hit at a food tasting night at group. they are a very firm sausage something you can get your teeth into.

The chips are just that, chipped potatoes, i cook them in the steamer for about 15 mins and then let them cool, spray a tray with frylight add the chips and spray them too, i then add a sachet of shotz to add to the flavour or course sea salt. cook until brown and crispy.

  • right. I am back on track. I've had a very dodgy week and tomorrow's weigh in is going to be a big slap but I've re-stocked the cupboards with lots of SW friendly stuff and I'm back on the band wagon.

    For today

    b: 2 bananas
l: leftover keema and rice with 2xHE mozzarella
d: beef casserole with root vegetables and potatoes

I've had my syns in 4 Quality Street.

    Hi northern lass,

Thanks for the sausage idea - they sound really nice and I think i'll give it a try, esp with the onions in.

BB - well done for getting back on track, I'm sure we'll both meet our holiday target if we just keep at it. And even if we don't we'll still be a darn sight lighter than if we hadn't bothered at all :-)

I'm feeling better from the tummy bug and have eaten white bread and pasta today. Not SW friendly, but at least i've kept it down. We'll see how it goes on saturday.

    Speak soon everyone,

  • Well i fell off the wagon so to speak yesterday, i was good all day until evening when i succumbed to a portion of fish and chips from the chippy where i work, they were delish and i dont regret having them, I have counted them in my syns mind you so as long as i dont go over what i have left i should be OK, so its back on the straight and narrow for me from today.

Well I am ashamed to say I [strike]fell[/strike] did a triple somersault off the wagon last week after losing 1/2lb on my 100% week, the disappointment combined with PMS and a falling out with the OH was not a good motivation for the week .. but no excuse! Managed to luckily only gain 1/2lb (which I am certain is a result of me being so perfect the previous week  ) so I need to get myself into gear and back on track this week .. back to my 100% challenge. I know OH is going to be 100% as well as he suffered a 3lb gain as I think he hit his housemates white bread with vengeance and went back to having the subs rather then salads in work for the week :o

Well done for all the losses and STS for the week, you are all so inspirational :A
  • You'll be fine Ossiero, onwards and downwards as i always say LOL.

Hi everyone - how are you all??

I am having a TERRIBLE week food-wise - oh dear. Went for a loooong walk today to allay the guilt. I am cold, due on (too much information??) and have been tempted by the chocolate buttons I am keeping in the cupboard as bribery for my 3 year old to start going to the toilet properly again (instead of in his pants - again too much info?)

OK - help me with some ideas please everyone. Am going to have a red day tomorrow (unheard of for me!) - I REALLY fancy chicken for tea - and lots of it. What (apart from salad) can I put with it that will be interesting, filling, and not contain wheat (don't eat it if I can help it - if I tell you why it really WILL be too much information!!)

    Thanks in advance...
