Thanks everyone who has given me advice regarding books, I'm going to join a class tonight and hopefully will start diet tomorrow (I'm not telling anyone what I'm eating today though).
Just to give a quick potted history, have been overweight since three years of age and am now rapidly heading for fiftieth birthday. During my lifetime I have tried various diets and have managed to lose 4st (1976), 5st (1980/1), 6st (2000/01) and 7st (2004), I now have 8st to lose, anyone see a pattern here, yes, I'm a yoyo dieter, each time I reach target I take it as a signal to return to my bad habits, and put on the amount I've lost and then some.
I must be honest and say that it is for health reasons I want to do it this time, mind I don't mind looking better, but right now I have diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesteral, have to take fourteen tablets daily, plus my back is in agony if I stand for more than a few minutes.
I'm sure that you lovely lot (I have read an awful lot of this board AND KNOW YOU ARE) will give me support which I really do need to not only lose the weight but to MAINTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :A

Well done northernlass and bob on your great weight loss this week.Im at class tonight, I think I may maintain, its actually my star week but I cant say this as I used that excuse when I put weight on in week 2 due to my alcohol intake.
Lucy im glad to see your giving it another go, youv given great support on here to me and others, you need to stay id miss you if you went.I get fed up too that my clothes still fit me and ive been on diet for 4 weeks but hey it will save me money buying new ones, I want to be 3 stone lighter by next week.I think I will feel better when people begin to notice im losing weight.
I was feeling fed up last night and I had a packet of quavors and a cupcake, I wasnt even hungry.I suppose it will take a while to get rid of the old habits.

OH is off to pub to watch the football tonight so I dont know what I will have for tea, it will be just me and the kids.I have to be quite good as its my night out with the vegie curry tommorow and I dont want to blow things.

depends on what day you are having.

A veggie curry on a green day is 9 syns and the rice is free, so it's not a massive blow out!

Im going to have a green day, Im hoping to not be tempted by naan bread that comes with meal but I know once it is there it will be hard.I dont often go out so I want to enjoy it and to be honest the curry was the best thing I could have on the plan, the other things would be mega high in syns.
Glad to see your back to your usual self Lucy, knew I could rely on you to know how many syns on which day. Thanks

I was ultra good in Tesco and rang DH who checked syns online for all the things I fancied, I did put it all back but I did almost stand in Tesco and cry :( I was sooo hungry and I just wanted to buy a quiche and eat the lot. Even the light choices were crap syn wise. I came home and had my weetabix. I feel a bit more in control now I am home.

Hi tizzzzy you have done it before and I am sure you will do it again. I have been to slimming world twice and managed to lose weight and reached my target, this time I really intend to lose 2 st and KEEP it off.:j
I was also a Slimming World consultant 14 years ago so if you get stuck with anything just shout, and if I can't tell you the right answer( as i am bound to be a bit rusty after all this time) I am sure one of the other girls can tell you. :rotfl: Everybody gives each other support on this forum, so you will get along just fine. good luck bubsy. just a small one lol.

1 pound gain for me - completely expected and although not good to record, not a shock in any way after birthday cakes, cider and 'rice-gate'!!!

I'm just carrying on as normal now and for next week want that pound off plus 1 more.

now as if we would sack you snaggles, we need you. You are doing such a good job on the spreadsheet, talking of spreadsheets is there any particular day we should weigh in.

My week should end on a thursday for weigh in, but if you want me to fall in on a day that suits you best especially for doing the spreadsheet as I don't want to make extra work for you, just let me know.
Also do we PM you with our weight loss. bubsy
