when I use it to defrost my freezer

I have only ever used mine for cleaning. Sorry if it seems a daft question but how do you defrost your freezer using it?
  • We defrosted our freezer with ours today, empty it all out, point steam nozzle at build up of ice. Job done! I put the washing up bowl in the bottom and old towels in front of the freezer to catch the defrosted ice.

I don't worry about opening windows etc. with ours, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Ours is one of the best things that we've bought!

Wow, thank you for that. I usually empty the freezer and use my hairdryer but this sounds so much easier. Almost disappointed that I only defrosted it last week, will have to wait a bit now before I can try it out.
  • I usually don't need to open windows etc unless I'm defrosting the freezer - it's the quickest and easiest way to do that particular job IMHO.

Mind you I always end up a bit flushed so maybe I should ventilate a bit :rotfl:

Ditto to most comments above especially about the cheapo towels for drying over - works a treat.

I am now wondering whether there are more things I could be using my Polti for other than cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, and now defrosting the freezer. What other things do you use yours for?

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Blasting cobwebs that I can't reach :o, I also use it to freshen up the sofas and it's great for freshening curtains as they hang.

It's worth watching Ideal World when they're demonstrating a steam cleaner to get some ideas.

Love the idea of freshening the curtains, if I keep the nozzle at a distance, could I use it to get into the creases on my leather sofas?
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add this to the existing thread to keep ideas together.

  • Can anyone please give any advice on how to use a steam cleaner?

I've recently purchased a polti and i'm suprised by how powerful it is! It is blasting dirt everywhere. I know that it is the first time using it and that once i've given it a good clean it won't have the same level of muck again but how to you clean the muck away?

I've gone through loads of cloths mopping up the muck and the little slipper things that on the end of the attachments get wet really quickly and start dripping water- is that normal?

Is the best way just to blast then wipe rather than using the slipper things? Also there is a funny smell it's either coz the steamer is being used for the first time or coz its moving lots muck from sink etc. Does this smell stop?

Sorry if i'm being a numpty any guidance on how to use it would be very useful - thanks!
