OS Daily Thursday 17th April 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16 april. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi everyone. I'm just so excited-could not believe this one hasn't been started yet, but then again it is stupid o' clock and I can't sleep!!!!
Hope everyone has a great day today. (((((hugs))))) Smoky and the smokelets and ((((hugs)))) to all who need or want one. Hope anyone who is unwell get well soon. Happy birthday-to anyone with a birthday. Right off to make a cuppa-then back to bed me thinks. Catch you later

Morning tattycath & all to follow,

Just having a break before I head off to see DGS. It's raining atm but it's only a passing shower so I'll wait for a little while. DGS still not feeling well. Been busy this morning, scrubbed the cushions from our outdoor setting on the verandah. Washed the upstairs lourves. Made a loaf of bread & a slice. I'm having pumpkin patties for tea tonight, made them and there in the fridge.

MrsMix  Hope it went well with your Dad yesterday.
Shez How is Mum enjoying herself?
tattycath Doesn't take you much to get excited. :D

<hugs> to those poorly or down. Hope you all have a thrifty  :D Thursday. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Morning all.

SMOKY - thinking of you and the LOs. (((Hugs))) to you all.

PENPIN - hope everything is OK? (((Hugs))) to you.

AUSSIELASS - hope DGS is better. My DGS was a bit under the weather at the weekend; he's better now but don't you just hate it when they're ill?

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, unusually for me, I slept like a log last night - I've been spring-cleaning and reorganising things for the last few days and I think that is helping me to 'switch off' at night!

Have no idea what the weather is like because it's till too dark outside but the forecast is good. We've had a lovely week here so I'd like it to last a bit longer.

Dinner tonight is stovies which went down well when I first tried it a month or so ago; I need to make some more cakes because the ones I made on Tuesday have nearly all gone.

Anyway, off to put the porridge on so see you all later.

    Morning.
I feel like someone has beaten me with a big stick.
I entered the work dinghy sailing races yesterday in Falmouth. I only do sailing once a year, so never hope to win, we just go for a bit of fun.
So we raced these 2 man Navy dinghys around the estuary for the day and came 7th out of 12th, which was quite commendable. Capsized once and went swimming for 10 minutes. Thankfully it was not too cold. Good day out, free pasty and buffet tea too.
Today I have to do some work, like finish my fence, clean the house as the OH is at college all day and a number of other things.
Lasagne for tea I think. See how I feel.
    Have a nice day
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Morniong one and all. Captain Nervous signing in :o

Well folks, today appears to the first day of the rest of my life, hence the above moniker! I'm not sure if I feel :j at the moment, but I definitely feel :D

The motorhome is back with me and all is well so that's a relief. It also went well at the Doctors yesterday. He was very pleased to see a different man to the wreck of a one he saw 2 weeks ago, and in truth, I'm very pleased as well. He's keeping me on the meds but wants to see me again in a month's time to check on my progress. The way I feel right now, I don't foresee any problems.

The "Captain Nervous" thing is due to the fact that once I've showered and fed and got the dogs sorted out, I'm off on my hodlidiidlydoodlydays :j Considering that I've been everywhere when I was lorry driving and I spent quite a few years wandering the country removing/installing machine tools, this is the first time it's just been me. I am now genuinely on my own. Not alone, but on my own. I will admit to a certain nervous trepidation at the thought of it. In fact, I can vaguely imagine what the sainted Captain Cook felt as he set sail for the New World in the Endeavour. And if ever I needed a sign, the sun has just risen above the trees and it was the most incredible deep orange. It's just fading to yellow now but what a magical sight to start the day.

Thats all from me for now as I'm starting to rival Mioliere :D (sorry :o ) so it's the shower then get the Empty Arms Hotel loaded and away I go as my own New World beckons....

I'll try and update but if not, I'll be back next week some time. To all who are hurting or need hugs, take care and my thoughts are with you.

    Martyn.

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your welcomes yesterday:)

Did my last night shift last night so going home soon. Was fairly quiet again which is good (although can get a bit boring!).
Will be sleeping until about 1pm then will get up so I can sleep tonight (usually stay in bed for a bit watching TV).
Will take it easy for rest of the day as will be feeling shattered. Will just do bits and pieces around the house.
I usually hit exhaustion at about 6-7pm after my last night but always think it's too early to go to bed so force myself to stay awake and then can't go to sleep later on.
Won't be online for next couple of days as no internet access at home until talktalk sort out my connection - we have recently moved and I've been waiting for them to connect me .
Back at work Sunday (in the daytime, so back in the land of the living) so I shall report in again then!

Have a good day everyone :D

    Morning all
Glad to hear people are still enjoying my blog, after watching the Knicker Lady yesterday, maybe I should take up public speaking.
SunnyDay, I find Amazon easier & more profitable than Ebay for selling books unless they are very unusual books. I'm selling books for a friend of hubby & have made £7 in 3 days, also you don't need to take photos.
I'm looking after DGS this morning while DD goes to the Drs, I think I'll take him to feed the ducks.
    Hugs to Smokey.
Hope there is news from PenPin soon.
    Enjoy your hols Martyn.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning

Another bright, dry day here, and I don't think it's as cold as yesterday, but will find out when I take the dog out.

Martyn, have a great holiday, just think you have no-one to please but yourself, so enjoy

Down to Mr Ts later, and will call in Home Bargains - I've only just found the place, but they have some great things, and was reading about a manicure set for 69p, so will put a couple up for Christmas stocking fillers

((( hugs ))) to Penpin, hope everything is OK, and ((( hugs ))) to Smokey x
