I know many of you know how the FOS works by now regarding your complaints, and can even find the information you require on the FOS website, but have come across this which also explains this:

    http://www.adrnow.org.uk/go/SubPage_33.html

Di, just looked again and this is the Waterways ombudsman lol

The Waterways Ombudsman deals with complaints and disputes involving British Waterways, its customers and visitors, neighbours of British Waterways land, and waterway businesses. It also deals with complaints about BWML, which runs marinas for British Waterways.

Can i ask why you waited 18 months before actually doing anything again??

What amount of PPI are they paying you back.?? Was this a single premium policy and is the loan now dead and buried etc. A little more detail here.

What are you being compensated for here?? Is the £1050 what they have offered. Its a little difficult to understand.[Firstly thank you for replying. I waited18 montha due to family illness etc, life getting in the way. However since Feb this year I have been phoning, writing and visiting the bank at least weekly trying to sort this out.

They have informed me that the PPI paid was £1050 and I am receiving 100% back. I have no idea what sort of policy i have been paying, I have no paperwork and don't really understand these things anyway. The loan has only payment to complete repayment.

The £1050 is not compensation but my money that was wrongly paid out. The bank had requested that I submit to them my demand for compensation due to the level of incompentence displayed in managing my refund. I hope that this makes more sense to you. Thanks

that was a long time, I bet you where getting really fed up with it all.
I'm glad you won in the end though.

I'm not really bothered how long it takes (although I would'nt want it to run as long as yours) as long as it's sorted and hopefully my way

In case I have missed this along the way, when did you take out your loan with these hun ?

Nemo gave us no choice and told me and hubby that WE MUST have their recommended ppi or borrow more.......  .
It was then I learnt about the mis selling in the media.

I think yours will resolve in a short time than mine, fingers crossed hun and yes we were very desperate at that time and needed it sorted as soon as possible, so glad its all over now.
They refunded approx £13K plus interest back.;)

If the policy cost you £1050 and they are paying you £1050 back what about the interest on the policy that you have paid and also how did you pay back the loan.?? Was it to the end of the term or early etc. If you are happy with the figure of £1050 have you got this in writing from them or just in this phone call??

I would try to post all details of the loan on here and someone can help you. If you put the amount of loan amount of PPI, repayment term, how many payments you made if you settled before the due date. Date of the loan, APR etc.

The compensation is really up to you. The Ombudsman puts around £200 on for this type of thing reading by other threads but like i say its up to you. You really need this in writing that they are paying you back though also.
