I know many of you know how the FOS works by now regarding your complaints, and can even find the information you require on the FOS website, but have come across this which also explains this:

Found this too, there is a list of articles at the bottom of that link.

This was added in "The Guardian" in 2002
When experts get it wrong, okay not ppi related but a bit of a story.

Hi there Corinne.
May I ask when you had taken out this loan hunni ?;)
Was you actually aware that you had ppi at the point of sale ?
You may have a good few reasons here for why they may have mis sold you this and I assume they added this as a single costly cover on top of the loan and did not tell you this or about the interest (which is extra you would have been paying too).
There is a checklist on this below link and also a template link on that actual page, check them out and get a letter sent out to them, they have 8 weeks to respond hun.

Can any one help?
I was mis-sold a PPI throught the RBS. I have waited 18months for any formal reply. They have fobbed me off with excuses such as "your documentation is filed at the back of a vault and we're too shorted staffed to do anything about it" and "you have no accounts with this bank".
Last week I received a phone call from them apologising for the mis-handling of my claim and sorry but they have in fact lost all details relating to my claim. On the up side, they had contacted the insurance company who supplied the ineffective PPI who were fast tracking my claim. 2 days later I was phoned again, this time to inform me that I was getting a payout and asked me to write to them asking for financial compensation.
This is where I am struggling as I don't know how much to ask for. It has been suggested to me I should ask for 8% interest, £££ for duress & inconvience and furthermore ££££ due to the loss of my data. Has anyone any experience of this sort of thing? The repayment seems fair (£1050 from a 5 year £5000 loan) but I have no idea about levels of compensation.0 -
I took out the loan 30/06/2004 and paid it 10/01/2006 I needed the money so much I just signed the paper work but no they didn't say about it on the phone and i wasn't aware you pay interest on it all. They just gave me the monthly figure and I took it.0

What amount of PPI are they paying you back.?? Was this a single premium policy and is the loan now dead and buried etc. A little more detail here.
What are you being compensated for here?? Is the £1050 what they have offered. Its a little difficult to understand.0
