Woody,
I'd love to agree on the missellling point - and defenitely worth some more investigating, but would add that its likely that internet sales are done as "non-advised" sales. More diffcilut to prove these as mis-sold.
What you need to do is get hold of all communications / documentations [Use a DSAR if neccesary] If the PPI was done as advised - then you should have received a "Demands & Needs" statement indicating on what basis they advised you to take the PPI. If not you should have something advising that the insurance is sold on non-advised basis. Non advised is basically information only - whereby they give you the informtion and you choose to take the insurance or not. A previous trick of some companies was to opt you in for insurance - and you had to opt-out. This is not a fair practice - so if this applies, i'd consider going ahead with the missell claim anyway.
Good luck
Thanks to all for the advice, but in what order should I do this?
First I need to stop the PPI payment -how do I do that - is there a template available? What can I expect from HSBC?
Then, do I ask for the e-mail transcripts or shall I go straight for the misselling with the frst letter (using which criteria?)
Again thanks for the help and guidance0 -

If you need to cancel the PPI then just write a letter to cancel but if you are going for the misselling as well then get the first template letter from here done and send it our recorded delivery as you have proof of posting. You can add in big writing too that you want to cancel the policy as of now but you are still going for misselling. Sometimes its best to write two letters as they often do not read the letters properly and just throw them to one side as another "misselling" one.
Don't be surprised when you do cancel if your payments don't go down by much and also you get very little back. As this was taken out only 3 years ago you will be able to take this complaint to the FOS so keep fighting.0 -

deferred finance charges are a way companies get you pay them off before a deadline
They are normal finance charges that would accumlate, except they are deferred until a certain date, if you pay off the money you owe the company before the date they give, you dont owe the deferred finance charges, if you dont pay it off, usually you owe all or a certain portion of those charges depending on how your credit agreement is written.
thanks Marshallka
I didnt realise as this was a 0% on balance transfer for a year I just thought you just started to pay interest on the balance I didnt realise they deferred the interest so really it isnt 0% for that time period unless you pay it off in fullstill fighting for my money !!!0
