i took a loan out 12 months ago will on a tempory contract which i told the loan company, i was told i would need to take insurance due to my role being tempory, i explained i only wanted the loan for 12 months as i would be selling my house and therfore would pay the 24k back. i asked for a figure this month to pay the house and loan off to my surprise i have been charged 7k for insurance, can i claim this back, as i was very clear i would be paying this back 12 months later, i feel i have been ripped off.

can anyone tell me what i need to do

    help

    p
Listen to DI and go for it!

You never "have" to buy PPI.
Would be interested to understand the Unemployment terms of the PPI they have missold you. For most policies the Unemployment cover wouldn't pay if you were on a temp contract anyway - so they've basically sold you something with redundant cover! I'd say you have a pretty good case for complaint

Thanks for all the great advice. But I seriously dont know how to word it. I am helping my son and his girlfriend at the moment as they've just got a house together. And I'm so tired with helping them clean and stripping the walls I cant even think straight at the minute.
I think I'll have to wait till I'm doing less at their house then I can think more clearly.
    Thanks guys. XX
Perhaps just wait for their reply to your letter then and then after that if its not the response you want write back and add these things to it.

Good luck with the house thing.

Blimey Tro_ness, I can't keep up with you.;)

    Can you come on everyday:A

Pretty much the same advice as singlep, someone who really knew their stuff too. We need you here.

What ones can you help with Tro_ness???

Its the blind leading the blind a little some times. We do try though:D
On what little i've read - i'd say a number of you are pretty much experts at this stuff now! Blind indeed ....

We are not trained and experts in it. We just try to help each other:grouphug:

    Tiggrae is our only expert.

We are all in the same boat really.

First and foremost we want to stop paying the PPI -we don't need it. As for misselling its difficult as my other half can't recall what the conversation (via e-mail) contained.

I think she has have agreed to it, but was not aware of the cost of it, as well as what it did and did'nt cover.

    Any ideas on misselling?

    Woody,

I'd love to agree on the missellling point - and defenitely worth some more investigating, but would add that its likely that internet sales are done as "non-advised" sales. More diffcilut to prove these as mis-sold.
What you need to do is get hold of all communications / documentations [Use a DSAR if neccesary] If the PPI was done as advised - then you should have received a "Demands & Needs" statement indicating on what basis they advised you to take the PPI. If not you should have something advising that the insurance is sold on non-advised basis. Non advised is basically information only - whereby they give you the informtion and you choose to take the insurance or not. A previous trick of some companies was to opt you in for insurance - and you had to opt-out. This is not a fair practice - so if this applies, i'd consider going ahead with the missell claim anyway.
    Good luck

Indeed - but all "experts" start out as beginners at one time or another! I'd say from the pratical experience a number of you have had - you're far better placed for advising newbees on what to expect when dealing with companies directly.
Theory is one thing ... but practice makes perfect! :T

That would be great as Tiggrae is not as much now and Di and me are answering things as best we can. We both worry at times if the info we are giving is correct but at least we try and do not state to be pro's at it.We both live on here for now. (Our poor hubbys and kids...) I logged on at 7ish this morning and still on now:eek: .

Are we doing ok then would you say Tro_ness. We don't mind being pulled up for anything... Just want to learn.

I want a job in GIB though doing this. Digging dirt !!!!!!!!! I get SAD as well.

Meaning correct prescribed terms I guess???

sorry - almost missed this one - but basically yes. [Though dependant on "issue" can be rather more complicated]
