Got the same letter today, just want them to be declared in default once and for all! I wonder if this company would offer me a better rebate figure !!:rotfl:
When I called I asked to speak to "our Personal Advisor" named in our welcome pack.(just testing the waters!!) I was told he no longer worked there,( surprise, sursprise!!) I requested a copy of the application form completed on screen. told they didn't keep one.It was he who asked if it was regarding PPI. mis sell.I asked why wasn't the total amount payable shown on contract. "it is never shown on any contract." Very strange I say , the copy you sent me last week had an additional page headed important info.showed amount of PPI + interest to end of loan term, he was tied in knots):j asked when it would be declared in default, but he wouldn't commit himself. Said he didn't actually work for Picture just taking the calls, told me to contact fscs:o

Please be advised this person is posting the same or similar posts on different threads. Think they are touting for business so newbies beware. I would not touch them with a barge pole.
Many thanks, As I am new to the site I need all the help you can give

You are more than welcome do not be taken in by anybody that wants to PM you or give outside help. Let regulars give you advice e.g. Marshallka. Di and Tiggrae at the moment are regulars also Liana (I think that right name) they can be trusted beware of new ones who have not posted on here before.

    Hi Tiggrae

Been waiting for you to be on here. Am having problems with barclays and FOS. What Barclays say is appropriate rebate for 3 PPI on 3 Loans is not what I am thinking is right. Do not have all figures but have had guidance from FOS and barclays not playing ball. Do not know how to sort it all out. Help!!!!!!! Do not want the sharks to win on this they have caused huge problems with all PPI's and unfair rebates (as far as I see) have told them what I want to happen but they not playing ball.:(

:jBack on again - phew!!! I have been busting a gut ALL day to ask for help!!

Received a letter back from FIRSTPLUS (claim with FOS) Here goes, my comment is in blue!!
    DearXXXX

Following recent contact by the Financial Ombudsman Service, we have been given the opportunity to send you a further response to your complaint regarding your payment protection insurance policy.

bla, bla (mainly they are satisfied that they sold it to us fairly!!)

We are concerned that you are unhappy.....we would like to offer an enhanced rebate of the insurance premium. the enhanced rebate that we are prepared to offer you is calculated on a pro-rata basis of 78% of the insurance premium. (not sure why it would be only 78%!!)

Our offer takes into account the time the policy has provided you with cover (16 months) and the rebate is calculated on the unexpired term remaining (44 months). We took this loan out in Aug 2004, so I'm not sure where these figures have come from!!!)

This would mean an amount of £775.27 would be applied to your account in addition to the normal rebate of £17.55 payable on cancellation of the policy. (this PPI was for £5025. over 300 months!!!!!)

Then they go on to 'no admission of liability, but a gesture of goodwill'

PLEASE could someone help - my head is spinning with all sorts of scenarios - thanks in advance

Ok the 78% tends to be FP's norm (after taking into account administration costs etc)

The pro-rata figure is worked out on 78% of the remainder of the premiums (ie they are ignoring what you've paid todate as they don't believe it was mis sold!!)

They've worked it out on on a 5 year basis (ie 60 months) of cover - not the length of time you'll be paying for it - the 16 months is just to prove they are complete morons and can't work out the number of months since August 2004

Write back - tell them to stick it - you want all your money back, plus interest, plus 8% statutory interest - if they're not prepared to offer that ask them to put it in writing and say it's there final response (they should come back very quickly and say it is there final response) then send all three letters onto the FOS refer to your case number

What they have done is actually illegal and there are lawyers who will recover the money for you without making any charges or deducting any fees from the money that they recover.

The best known is probably www.watsonssolicitors.co.uk
interesting that there web site has no company registration, LLP registration details nor solicitor registration details !!

Scammers go and play elsewhere !!!!
