Hi I'm really new to this and hope some one can help me. My husband has had a credit card with lloyds tsb for approx 15yrs. We have always had ppi on it until about 5 months ago when I finally realised it wasn't compulsory and cancelled it. I wrote to tsb and they sent me a copy of the agreement my husband signed for the ppi 15 yrs ago. My problem is that my husband has been unemployed due to illness for the last ten years so in effect we have been paying for something we do not need and have never made a claim on it for ill health. Is there any chance of reclaiming any of the ppi. thanks to anyone who can offer any advice liz
Did you ever try to claim on the ppi when your husband became ill??

Haven't settled yet, just asked what would happen if I cancelled my insurance policy and from £19960 in insurance paid I would get back £2350 and my monthly payments would be £22 pounds less which I think is terrible!

    Hi hun.

Yes I agree its disgusting !
When my hubby cancelled our loan insurance, as the loan was £55K, insurance £12K, they only reduced this by £14 a month, it does make you think if it were worth doing it but if its worthless every penny counts to save this money.
Just think though hunni, when sorted and settled you will get it ALL back and an extra 8%.;)

    Hi there becsblade.;)

Marshallka has asked if your hubby ever claimed on this policy when he became ill because if a claim was ever made it would be pointless trying to reclaim this as they would argue the fact that you must have been aware to have made a claim.
But if not hunni then you can get a reclaim letter done (templates on this site)......;), and if you receive a fob off letter the first time round, keep going because these are normally basic-standard templates they use to deny this.
If you want any further help and info please don't hesitate to get back to us.

    Good luck !

Yes hunni we cancelled about 2 months after taking the loan so missed the cooling period times for this and this was why it was not reduced much...... , still we got it all back in the end.;) It was done through the FOS.

  • hi marshallka and di
    thanks for your reply.
My husband has never made a claim on the ppi and didn't when he first finished work. This was probably due to the fact we probably owed very little on the card at the time. Last year we run up the card to £7000 and thats when I noticed how much ppi we were paying. I cancelled the payments (it was actually our son who told us we didnt have to pay it) and used the reclaim template letter to ask the bank for the ppi back. they sent us a copy of the original signed agreement so I thought that was the end of our case. Do you think it is worth pursuing. We have always thought the ppi was compulsory with the card which is our own fault for not reading the small print. thanks again

Yes you keep at them becsblade, you have grounds to complain here, mine and my hubbys is with the FOS right now for the same reasons as yours also Lloyds TSB.
How long ago did you complain to LLoyds?, if it were a while ago, say 6 months ago I would write back again and threaten them with the Financial Ombudsman Service, if this was not so long ago and they have supplied you with their final response then get a complaint form done from the Financial Ombudsman service.;) .

    Complaint form on the link.;)

    Good luck.

Di posted a link and answer on the page before this one. I think she made a similar claim to you.
