    Hi.
We had a loan with IGroup. We were told that the loan was conditional of PPI. When I first wrote to GE Money, they told me to take it up with Freedom Finance - the broker. So I then went after them instead.
If you read some of my earlier posts, you will see that FF are repaying me the PPI and 8% interest.
    Who brokered your loan?
I think if you have time, you should read through some posts as there is a wealth of information on this forum.
Do keep at it, you will win:money:

Hi Marcluc i posted a few pages earlier about our ppi with igroup/ge money. Initially our loan was taken through Freedom Finance. On your paperwork was the 'optional' box ticked when you got it? Ours was and im unsure whether we will get it back? We too were told we needed the ppi.

    Many thanks

I was asked to mystery shop banks to see how they sell PPI with loan applications. They asked me to do my own bank..

Maybe they know something new - phone them back and ask them what happens if it goes over the time limit while you are waiting?
I did say that to them. I kept emphasising to them that i need to make a claim now but he even said "thats what we are here for". I told him a few times that it was taken out in 2000 and it was not within their jursidiction and again he said "but it ran until 2003 when you settled the loan". He again said to wait. I feel i can't trust anyone and that i am going to not get the chance of the courts but i don't want the FOS to get fed up of me ringing. I will be mighty annoyed if they have informed me wrong but he DID say to hang on. Maybe they do know something and that is i don't stand a chance. (LOL).

where they under their jurisdiction when you settled in 2003? I can't see them putting you in any financial loss - otherwise you'de have a complaint about them and their advise. Did you get the blokes name? Hvae you got loud speaker on your phone and a tape recorder (hint hint)

They were registered with GISC in nov 2001. I first rang ages ago and sent an email complaint about the ppi and got the standard reply that "it was not within our jurisdiction". I then called them and explained the settlement and that i thought it "extortionate". The man then said they could check this out and sent out a form. From there i gave a two page letter along with the claim and put about lots of discrepancies that i had found, the wage thing, the ppi and the actual application being 10 years and the actual agreement 10 days later being over 13 plus years because of the ppi. I then called them today to ask just what they were looking into and they said whatever you have complained about. I then asked about the ppi and that i had to take this to court and he said "hang on" "thats what we are here for". I then told him about the limitations act and that the ppi was outside their jurisdiction and he said "well it was still in force in 2003". I felt like he knew something but I will be might angry if i get nowhere with this. God my blood pressure is boiling over now (already have hypertension). I daren't ring again in case it puts them off.

No it most certainly wasnt. We were told we had to have the ppi in order to have the loan. It was ticked by whoever sent the paperwork. I can honestly say it was not ticked by us but im not sure how im going to prove it. Other than showing a judge the tick is so different to ones made my my husband and i.

I havent sent the letter off yet. Sarah mentioned asking for an SAR. Do i do this even though we have the PPI agreement already (well, we have our copy of it)?

    monica

Edited to add: we signed for the PPI on the 9th December 2004 and the loan paperwork was signed 17/12/04. This is because Freedom Finance wouldnt allow us to proceed with the application until we agreed to the PPI.

We had the same thing with the infamous "FREEDOM FINANCE". I know how you feel. Where are you sending off to for a sar? A sar is copies of everything they hold about you. It also gives you a tape of the phone calls.

If i was you i would make a complaint about them to the OFT, FSA and FOS too.

Our application showed we had left the "I/WE" boxes at the bottom of the application unticked about reading documents on the ppi. it was £17 k over 10 years. then the actual agreement 10 days later had ppi and was expended to 160 months being 13 plus years. The nice Freedom Finance man had obviously decided for us. (or firstplus). They knew we were desperate and then it became "no loan without it...."

Ok heres where it gets complicated because we initially tokk out the loan through Freedom Finance. They got us the loan through Igroup (who have been nought out by GE Money). On one of our letters we have paid £400 to someone called Bespoke Finance although i dont know what they do or who they are!

So who do i send the SAR and template letter to? And has anyone ever heard of Bespoke Finance?

ohhhhh no. Not Bespoke. Thats just like us. They are based in Gibraltar and although you think you are dealing with Freedom finance, they only process the loan on behalf of Bespoke. If you go onto Freedoms webpage at the bottom on the legal bit it does state it.(We did not know and certainly were not told it by Freedom). They are the untouchables. They do not need to be regulated apparently but they should be for the sale of Insurance. Tiggrae, who claims ppi for a living posted this yesterday. She has not been able to touch them yet but all those affected need to put details into an email and send to the email address that she has given.

I will let you know the Bespoke thing but first read this.
