  • Hiya all,

I had a loan with Paragon and paid it off early. I've received a copy of my paperwork off them and think I should be able to claim back for the PPI, I'd just be grateful if you could check it for me:
    • Loan amount: £35,000 (1st payment 1/11/04)
    • PPI added on top if this: £7,175
    • Total amount of loan & PPI: £42,175
    • Interest at start of loan: 8.9%
    • Loan was over 240 months
    • Final payment: March 2006
    • Loan was paid off March 2006 (after March's DD had come out)
    • Number of months paid: 16
    • Balance at this time: £40,977.61
My final settlement figures were made up of the following:
    • Int. retention release (Debit of £9.66) (Balance £40,987.27)
    • Early redemption interest (Debit of £1,763.58) (Balance £42,750.85)
    • Rebate credit prot. ins. (Credit of £852.06) (Balance £41,898.79)
    • Administration Fee: £150.00 (Balance £42,048.79)
    • Cheque receipt: £42,552.49 (Balance £503.70)
    • Refund BGC (After redemption): £503.70 (Balance £0.00)
I have no idea what the "refund BGC" thing is, I just paid what they stated.

Now, I think that as my original PPI was £7,175 and they refunded me £852.06, my PPI refund now should be £7,175-£852.06 = £6,322.94.

Does that sound correct to you?

    Many thanks for your help!

Have sent the below message to MSE WENDY, will let yous know the outcome.

    Hi

I was wondering if you or Martin could offer any support or help to the members with regards to the mis-selling of PPI.

The problem is many of the people on this forum have encountered problems reclaiming their PPI, due to the fact that the companies involved were not regulated, knowing this they are getting away with not paying out. However successes only come from companies that were regulated.

I have sent the below letter to all the regulating bodies, to bring this to their attention and just wondered what your thoughts were for every member having a problem to write to them or any thoughts on how we could all campaign for the people having PPI prior to 2005.

    PPI mis-selling

I write with regards to Payment Protection Insurance and that I have complained to Freedom Finance about, to no avail, due to the fact that we feel we have been mis-sold the PPI.
Although the loan was taken out in 2004 and the fact that they were not regulated, I know you may not be able to help, however wanted to bring this to your attention. I also believe even though they were not regulated that I should have the right to have my complaint investigated fairly under the Human rights act 1998.
I do not think it to be fair that anyone with a loan taken out in 2005 should be treated any different to a person taking a loan out in 2004, even though Freedom Finance were not regulated in 2004. I know of people who were covered by the relevant regulating body and have received funds back due to the mis-selling of PPI, but what protection is there for the people prior to 2005. It does not seem just".

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • if you are reclaiming miss sold PPI especially if it was a lump sum premium added to the loan if the premium is stated as part of the credit and not a cost of credit then this renders the whole loan unenforceable ! I looked into this with a firm called Project Zero in Stockton and found them very help full.
