I was saying on here earlier, mine will be the next one to be thrown back to me again and that will be the 2nd time too, "unfair rebate".....

I will know in time but I can see why Marshallka is very angry about this, I was angry hearing this news today and goodness knows now what I will be like when this happens with me again......

I know it is so frustrating you wait for ages put lots and lots of research and fine tuning into your letters and complaints, then they spend ages waisting more money and turn you down. It is not fair and I know poor Marshallka must be absolutely fuming.

We are all behind you Marshallka and will do all we can to support you though saying that you are more than capable of sorting it out yourself. Lets hope Troness or Tiggrae get on here soon.:o

First of all I tried the two together. Unfair settlement and rebate. That got thrown out. I then tried to seperate them, one for unfair settlement and one for unfair rebate of the policy. Tiggrae says that they definately look into these complaints and also tron_ess told us too that these complaints are to the lender not the broker. Great i thought and then this. No-one else has had this happen to them. I suppose its just about them being on the side of Firstplus i think. I know that catinithehat has got hers through and I think Anne.Jade too and Laini complained about the PPI and unfair settlement but I had this letter today that all complaints for unfair rebate are to the insurance provider and not the lender or the broker.

Of course I telephoned the person and argued it but nothing. They have no sympathy and just keep saying its so unfair on Firstplus.

IN fact it all feels a bit like a dream here. How can they say its not fair on FIRSTPLUS....

    Hi Marshallka

Sorry to hear about your latest troubles, you're not having much luck at all are you. It was Firstplus themselves that offered me an enhanced rebate, nothing to do with the FOS. I don't see how, if it's the insurance company that you have to go for for unfair rebate, FP offered me a bigger rebate off the PPI. Doesn't make sense what the FOS is saying in your case.

    Hi there Anne Jade.

    Hope your well hunni.;)

If you don't mind me asking what year did you settle yours please ?
    Thanks hun.

Its so awful this about Marshallka's isn't it ? , I was very shocked when she posted it earlier, it does not seem fair that she has been messed about like this.

I settled mine in Nov 2005 but had taken the loan out in July 2004, I have also re-submitted mine with the FOS although this time its about the unfair rebate and not the mis selling side of it, and not the same lender as yours, but I am expecting to get mine thrown back to me too now since reading what they have done to Marshallka, they have wasted her time !!!!

I got a £90 rebate against my PPI when we settled and I find it unfair (lots more unfair but went for this one as tiggrae advised here). I put in my complaint to the FOS sometime in May about unfair settlement and unfair rebate and it got thrown out as they said that Firstplus did not come under their jurisdiction until 2005 (member of the GISC in 2001:confused: ) so I then resubmitted and put unfair rebate of PPI and then against Barclays trading as FIrstplus as advised to do so and another seperate complaint for unfair loan settlement. I got a letter yesterday to say that the two complaints had been made as one and then telephoned and got told "good news" this has now been assigned an adjudicator and was given the adjudicators name and put through to him". Great i thought.

Then today I had this email off someone else (a manager) to say that my complaint had been closed as this needed to be made against the insurance underwriter as this was for the rebate of a PPI policy and it has nothing to do with FIrsplus. I then called her up and told her the name of my adjudicator from yesterday and she said there had been a mistake and that the complaint had been passed back to her and that she felt that it was something they could not look into.

To say I feel angry is putting it mild. It has been passed to an adjudicator twice and then the very next day closed. That is like taking the p completely here.

Also note on here this is only in regards to UNSECURED LOANS...

What should I do if I have a concern about the PPI policy I took out over the telephone before 14 January 2005 or after 31 December 2007?

This matter only relates to customers who took out a PPI policy to protect an unsecured personal loan between 14 January 2005 and 31 December 2007 following telephone contact.

If you took out a policy outside this period and have a concern over your PPI policy, the way it was sold, or its suitability, then you should contact us in the normal way through the normal channels, and your case will be looked into. Ways that you can get in touch:

What about a PPI policy I took out at a branch or over the Internet during this period?
