I don't work now but could not get credit on my own being a stay at home mum. All ours are joint? Was the credit missold too??
Not sure, even though this was a separate agreement, hubby was sold a card too, so not sure if I am the 2nd cardholder, yet wouldn't his name be on my agreement too if that was the case ?
Loans and everything else has been joint.
Still I was receiving separate statements every month for the credit card too.
Me and hubby had joint bank accounts since the 1990's but I did not marry him until millenium Eve, I had to point out that the complaint then was under my maiden name. (to the FOS).
I am really not sure here, because I thought anyone could have Credit cards at the time, even though I was a stay at home mum, this was classed as a Homemaker on my agreement, they may have taken my hubbys income into consideration as houeshold income, yet if hubby came out of work mine would still not protect me for that.
On the letter I received from them after complaining they just wrote down the usual, job solutions, hospitalisation etc, but if hubby did come out of work I would still have had to pay for my monthly repayment wouldn't I ?The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
I have written a letter which I am going to post to theFOS tomorrow, would you mind casting your eyes over it just to give me your opinion please.
Dear Sir
I am writing to you with regard to my complaint against First Plus
reference number xxxxxxx. I had been informed that The Financial Ombudsman
Service would not be in a position to investigate my complaint as it was
taken out prior to 14th January 2005, the date when this particular
insurance company came under the jurisdiction of the FSA.
I have myself investigated this and have found that as First Plus were
under the regulatory control of The General Insurance Standards Council you
do have the jurisdiction to investigate this complaint.
Indeed I have documentary evidence from numerous contacts with examples
where you have investigated this company relating to complaints of
misselling PPI prior to the 14th January 2005.
I would be pleased if my complaint could be reopened as a matter of urgency
as I am concerned that any more delay may have a detrimental affect on my
complaint.
Regards Steve Mallinson
Great letter steve, best of luck.DS1 12/10/04

I wonder what details for wages etc they put down for you?? You have answered that one now in that they put your hubbys wage details down. I always think this is so wrong when they do that as if anything happened to the two of you, you would still be liable for the credit as it is your debt and not his. Why are they allowed to do this...???0 -

Just my monthly child benefit was added hun for 2 children in 2001.
I did not personally receive anything else in income.
I had sent a copy of this agreement which shows the amounts to the FOS too.
My husbands income was only shown on his, so they are then separate agreements. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I took a loan out with Barclays in January 2001 which was for a six year period and the account was cleared and closed in January 2007, and I believe this was mis-sold to me as they told me at the time that I had to take out the PPI to qualify for the loan. Sent the first template letter to them to which they have replied that "they are unwilling to investigate your concerns any further as your complaint is time barred." It seems that as it has been longer than six years from the date of taking out the loan I cannot even claim a partial refund of the sums paid to them. Has anyone else has this problem - should I continue??0

I see our Marshallka has given you some useful advice for this, here is the link to the FOS for your complaint if you have already received your "final decision"
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Forms also on the link.
Hope you get through this, you need to continue, don't give up now you have gone this far.;)
Good luck
Di.
