  • Thanks for giving me a starting point!, I have found the letter I received from First Plus when the loan was settled when we moved which states the account number so have sent off the template letter asking for a copy of my loan agreement, I understand they have 40 days to respond so will let you know how it goes

    icon1.gifShould I cancel PPI now?
HELP! I am in the process of reclaiming PPI on 2 loans through a solicitor, should I cancel the PPI now or will this interfere with the claim. I have been told the claim could take up to 2 years. I don't really want to keep paying the PPI for the next two years knowing I don't really need it. Should I cancel it now?

    Hi there hun
Did you see my post I left you on your other thread ?
I take it you did to be here.;)

I had left some links for you to help you reclaim as you do not really need a solicitor for this, because doing this yourself will not cost you a penny.;)

The decision is yours hun but if you need more information just post back to let us know.

You can cancel your PPI anytime but may I ask who your loans were with and when you had taken them out ?
    Thanks.

I do hope they look at the others but they with them requesting for the other agreements then they must be hoping to look into them for you, as they were already aware of the dates wasn't they ? of all the loans ?

Its agonising isn't it? more waiting.....

With my very first complaint, (Nemo) I knew hardly a thing of how these complaints worked then or anything about requesting the Stat interest, but I had this anyway, because my Adjudicator and ombudsman said they should pay this anyway, as it is what a court would award, I did not request it because i knew nothing of this then.
Yeah, I knew nothing of requesting the statutory interest but tiggrae said last week that they do not give it with a request.

I am just unlucky where the ombudsman is concerned. They did say they were looking into all four from what i can remember and also the lady that I spoke to yesterday who was the manager of the of my old adjudicator said that he had noted all four loans and that she had also noted my emails asking for all four to be looked at, although the emails had not had anything done with them.

I was told today that he had no objection to getting back to the co-op requesting that but he did say that the co-op would not have the agreements. I had already sent them in to the other adjudicator:confused: and then I said that I had them and he asked for copies. I have everything as I requested a SAR from them. I have sent him copies again and by the sound of it this other adjudicator got it all wrong anyway and must have mislayed half my things. I also stated that I HAD given co-op the option to look into all four (he had the letter there:confused: ) but they never replied to me and its way past 8 weeks now. (near on 11 to 12 weeks). He then said he would now request a final response from them on the other loans I think (as I have already sent in a final response anyway and they never replied to my letter about all four anyway and its 11 to 12 weeks ago now).

I don't think they should allowed extra time other than 8 weeks to respond and they are now giving them more time. I thought 8 weeks was sufficient. They sent a final response to the one loan that I did have a copy of the agreement of and it was the very last one that we had with them and a week before receiving that final I had then sent in an add on to my complaint about all the loans. The co-op told me that no PPI was added on them:mad: and then they took over 7 weeks to actually send me just the agreements. When the agreements arrived i had proof of this being put on the others after being lied to and then sent another letter that very day to say that there was PPI on all the loans and I now wanted to complain about them ALL. Like I say that letter was sent about 12 weeks ago. They wrote to me about 5 days after that letter with a final response stating that the loan of December, 2002 (which was the last loan) was sold correctly and that was their final response. I then sent the complaint into the ombudsman and he asked if they had given a final response to the previous ones and I told him that they had not bothered to respond to my letter. I must admit at that time it was only about 5 weeks since I sent it to them but now its about 12 weeks and still no repsonse so surely they can just look into it anyway.

I know this is long but again, its complicated.

They only have 12 days to send out the agreement. If you requested a full SAR then its 40 days. Your agreement shoud only take a couple of days.

    Hi there hun

Yes its 40 days they have when you request a SAR
    And
8 weeks for a response when requesting a reclaim on complaint.

Good luck and hope you receive your docs before the 8 weeks are up and before I forget did you ask the company first if they could provide you with anything free of charge, some have to pay I think up to a £1 for agreements but I do know of others being supplied with them free of charge, and you can always request for Telephone recordings, again sometimes free and sometimes a charge, yet with a SAR they should provide everything they have on you on your account(s).

Look forward to hearing from you again hun.;)

I cannot believe you have been told it could take up to 2 years. That is way over the top. . Have you signed anything with this solicitor and also when was the PPI applied?

Di this is not a SAR as the poster does not need one if post 2005 which this was. Its only an agreement and it will be only a couple of days.

OMG........ , so they are given them further time then ??
I do not agree with it either hun, its well gone past 8 weeks, like you said almost 12 weeks have gone by and that is 4 weeks over already !!
    Maddening !!!!!

I think the adjudicator should just look into them too right now and not wait !!!
Its pathetic, why give these companies extra time when we are unable to have any ???

Sorry just had to have a rant........:o
