  • Hi
This is my first time!!! Please can anyone help, I have been trying since last October to reclaim PPI from G E Money, I did not get anywhere so contacted the FLA after a few letters back and forth I have been told that we have come to a deadlock and GEMoney will not repay as I did not read the aggreement, FLA have said that independant action is my next course. I am a little concerned about this has anyone taken this action with G E Money?

Hi Laini i am still waitin for fos not as long you they have written back to me saying they are waiting for an adjudicator for my case,i will let you know how i get on and im sure you will too, good luck
What i don't understand is you have 6 months from the date of the final response to make a claim elsewhere and it can take that for the FOS to look at your case so that leaves no time to take this court if they dismiss it. Am i right?????????

    Hi

I'm new to all this, Me and my ex husband had two loans with Black Horse and they told us we had to have PPI because our credit score was so bad we wouldn't get a loan without it.

We also ended up with a secured loan from Sterling Credit (not my idea I might add) and this was the case with them as well. Do you think it's worth approaching them about it?

    Thanks

No the wording is "If we don't receive a response from you in the next six months we will consider the matter closed". This doesn't mean that you are not acting its just their considerations. Plus if you have gone by the FOS they would have sent a letter to the company requesting the case file and therefore the company knows that matter isn't closed. Even if you are waiting for a adjudicator it doesn't matter what matters is the company sees that the FOS is now directly involved.

I'm at this stage with GE aswell even although I have proof that they have blatantly lied to the FLA on several points - one being that they said they cancelled the ppi at my request in Feb 2008 when I have a letter from November 2006 confirming that I had paid my account and closed it!
Basically GE are saying they weren't regulated by anyone at the time (2003) so it doesn't matter if they have mis-sold etc so in their eyes they have done nothing wrong! FLA can't enorce anything so are basically useless.
Strangely enough GE were unable to send me 27 months worth of statements over two cards as they were 'missing'...............and guess what they are some of the months when my ppi was cancelled etc.

I have phoned Beneficial finance and Barclays to cancel the PPI on my loans, The both say this can be done but It would not benefit me as I would have to take out a new loan for the remainder term (3 yrs) and its not guaranteed that the interest rate would be the say, barclays came back with a gem saying I would have to pay more than what i pay per month not????
It seems very simple in my eyes on both loans the ppi cover is about 50 per month why cant they cancel it and let me make payments of the lesser amount? not really sure where to go from here?? any help would be great

They sound like they are talking total bananas. The ppi is seperate to the loan and you are entitled to cancel it at any time. I had a bit of trouble with RBS when cancelling i was fobbed off but i threatened them with the ombudsman and it was sorted they cancelled and my monthly payment came down. I would call them again and follow it up in writing stating clearly you want to cancel the ppi and you do not have to redo any loan agreements threaten them with the financial ombudsman and consumer direct. I say consumer direct because the FOS are very busy will take a while to sort whereas if you speak to consumer direct who are a regulatorly body related to trading standards and deal with breaches in consumer credit regulations can get a quicker answer and help. They cannot stop you cancelling ppi
MY Successes = RBS PPI, RBS bank charges, Aqua PPI, Aqua cc charges, HFC PPI, Welcome Finance PPI, Blackhorse PPI Mums Ongoing= Swift Advances PPI, London Scottish PPI, Blackhorse chgs, GE money pyts missing

No am not a legal bod and the hearing was for my own case. It ok though the Halifax never defended its case and it was in breach of the court order given by the Judge at the end of the hearing so either way i've won. It's just waiting for Halifax to pay up now.

As for taking it up i don't know. Am an engineer by trade and enjoy doing manual work. Its worth thinking about but the training alone is daunting.

Hi m colak what do you mean when you said they were in breach? and did they not respond at all?

    Hi everyone,

Regarding the PPI, I was 17 when I brought my first car from Fords. I paid some in cash and the last £1000 i took out their credit. I was very preassured into taking this out and as a young person I accepted. I am 23 now and when I look back at the paperwork that was set up for me I was charged at 44% apr. There was also payment protection on this which I ended up paying back nearly £3000 all together. Double what I originally borrowed.

Do I have a chance of claiming for the PPI? Im not making excuses but I was a young person who was made to take out this insurance.

    Any ideas? Please help?

    Thanks
