Argos makes no mistake with 49p TV

Yes their conditions were accepted. They did not apply these conditions, but chose to ignore/change them without notifying customers.

The sheer greed shown by some individuals in this thread is despicable...

    You're an embarassment this forum...

So you're saying that you're annoyed they didn't offer you the TV for £300 because you would have bought it?

  • jaxxy00 What I found offensive is I'm being accused of working for Gus , instead of being actually thanked for providing information that is both relevant and useful.

On the subject of getting your union to follow this up, IMO you stand absolutely no chance of that. But, thats your decision. It would cost the union a fortune, and back in 1999 a similar case was dropped against Argos due to finances running out. (Argos offered Sony Nicam TVs for £2.99 each, instead of £300)

bugbod, its all very well cutting and pasting, (you have done it here with total irrelevance

However, you need to understand the information you are supplying. I could cut and paste great works of Russian literature here, it would be totally irrelevant, and also I wouldn't understand what I was pasting, as I don't speak Russian.
Any discussion on Contract Law in the UK, especially about when a contract has been formed, relate to the same specific few cases. Something the site you bookmarked doesn't even cover.
An article I found today http://www.swarb.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=330&sid=90e1b0a457ee1eecb4d7681c11d31170 states the same facts I have been pushing for the last few days. The opinions between what this guy writes, and what I write are similar. I am NOT going to rewrite when cut and paste will suffice.

"Sorry, I couldn't be bothered wading through!" sums your attitude up quite well. You are prepared to bleat that you haven't received a TV for 49p, but are not prepared to even venture into the realms of why the retailer would not have to provide the goods on this occasion. You can't even be bothered to State that you thought that 49p was the correct price.

Typing yes or no is not difficult.

Hi me again, still got no cancellation...............so what is happening ?

....where can I look to see how long they have to cancel this agreement with me ?

IMO there was never a contract to supply you with the TV, so the point is pretty irrelevant. Bad working practice on behalf of GUS, but nothing unusual in big business nowadays. As to the time limit, I don't know.

AS I am going round in circles, unlike bugbod, I'm out of this discussion, and not coming back to it.

I have stated facts, backed them up (cos if you can't back up a statement with fact, why post it!), and still get critised from what I expect are really nice people consummed by some form of greed.

    That disappoints me immensely.

    Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen they're not listening still
    Perhaps they never will

Maybe I would. Not an exorbitant price for the package.

Well it's still available so I don't see what the problem is - just go and order it again!

On the bcc news link that was posted argos retail group are quoted as saying that

"As soon as we were made aware of the problem, we took steps to make the product unavailable for purchase"

However was the homebase tv not on sale for at least several hours after the argos one was pulled ?

Just wondering if anyone could confirm this ?
