PLEASE, before you do , will someone comment on this? From their T&C

While we try and ensure that all prices on our website are accurate, errors may occur. If we discover an error in the price of goods you have ordered we will inform you as soon as possible and give you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it.

Nobody got this option. Does that not mean they are contravening theor own rules?
    I'm asking, not arguing.

It would appear so, but didn't ebuyer do likewise earlier in the year and get away with it? It seems that Trading Standards were unwilling to follow the matter through, but given my own experience of TS it doesn't surprise me! They are about as much use as a bottled fart.

Well, whether they are contravening their own rules or not. If they had asked me did i want to buy it at £349.99 i would have said 'on ya bike mate'. What would you have said?

I'd have said the same, and I'm sure they knew that, but that's not the point.

(and I can't get the smileys to work)

Did anyone think they would receive a TV for 49 pence?

No...but neither did I expect them to take money out of my account for goods that they cannot provide. If Argos had followed their OWN T&C's they should have contacted every customer who ordered to see if they wanted to continue with the order at the correct price BEFORE cancelling.

Instead they chose to pick and choose the T&Cs that suited them.

Most internet companies don't take payment until they know they can honour their own 'invitation to treat'. Why Argos has chosen to be different is beyond me - it has caused annoyance with their potential customers and caused themselves an adminastrative nightmare I guess.

I wrote to ask them why they followed this procedure and they just replied saying they are not obiliged to honour their offer as it was a pricing mistake. I have written back to ask them if they could answer the question as I wasn't asking for the TV for 49P!!
