And the story to the original poster is if you find a pricing error like this or anything remotely similar for future items is to keep it yourself. You have more chance being the only one to find and get the item than paste it here on MSN board where thousands end up purchasing and in the end no even gets it. Who would have guessed that 10,000 people would have ordered!!!! Even more bizzare is how the argos system allowed 10,000 orders to be lodged.0

Reckon it's time this thread was locked, It's only gonna get worse from here on in.0

I reckon they've made a tidy profit off the interest so they should donate the profit to charity as it was their mistake. They kept taking the money and i would put a little bet that they never had that many in stock. In my opinion it was no mistake !0

Someone needs to purchase some padlocks, and quick!
I too was one of those who 'ordered' - but what I've found even more amusing is the number of dumb dumbs who have copied the email from Homebase word for word in one of their posts.
Then there are all those 'no letter yet' dumb dumbs.
One thing all this Homebase/Argos issue made me realise, was that I could have given the money to charity. I haven't missed the odd few quid.
To see so many threads, pointless repetitive posts on this makes me laugh.
You're all more bothered about a 49p TV you're not going to get, than what is going on in the real world.
You all should be ashamed of yourselves and drop the issue immediately.
Somebody please do the honours with a nice, brand new padlock............0 -

I think you'll find they made a wopping loss on this, not only in good-will, but also financially. The actual figure may come out one day.BUCK wrote:i would put a little bet that they never had that many in stock
I don't know what there stock level is, how soon they can receive these, or whether they are distributed by the importer/distruibutor, or what his stock level is. So thats impossible to comment on.BUCK wrote:In my opinion it was no mistake !
Are you suggesting that the management of this company had a massive plan to defraud thousands of uk customers of about £5.50 each for a couple of days worth of interest (that wouldn't even cover the cost of fixing the problem). That would be a really strange way to run a business.0 -
Wait a minute i thought it was a free country and im entitled to my opinion. Ten thousand people at what ever rate of interest per day at £5.50 per person ?0

Although I am not surprised that we did not get the TV I still think that Argos/Homebase have acted very badly:
1. They have not responded to any of my emails - these emails are genuinely very polite and very short.
2. Although mistakes are sometimes made in terms of pricing; all retailers have extensive procedures whereby inputted prices are checked and re-checked before going live. This highlights a major deficiency in their processes.
3. A properly programmed internet system (I work in I.T.) would have automatic checks for such low prices on goods of this category (ie Audio-Visual). This further highlights the difficiencies in their system.
4. Again a properly programmed internet system would highlight (bank holiday or not!) the sudden increase in the number of orders of a particular item. The "mis-price" existed for an extremely long time yet it took them a long, long time for them to realise. Again, their system and/or processes failed.
5. Argos "mis-prices" seem to re-appear every now and again. The webcam example highlights this. You must by now be getting a feeling for my personal view on their processes and their system.
6. Given that they are indeed making money out of our ill-received money (yes, they may be making a loss in total due to the clean-up, but this is entirely down to their error) I have emailed them requested that they donate this amount to charity. No reply from them yet.
All of the above comments are my own personal view, and I understand that some people may disagree or feel that enough has been said on this topic. I do not wish to offend anyone, but if anyone says that they are sick and tired about reading about this topic my suggestion is that they may wish to stop reading the thread!
