Teh pepole what canht spell ?

Thepeople whodont beliveinpunctuation or cheking therespeling fur thattmaterr

The people who met a lawyer at at the 1978 wedding of their third cousin once removed lawyer who left early arfter they kept hassinling them to do the conga and although they have not seen since they will look up as he will sure to be happy to help them.

The people who are convinced that "big companies" are screwing us for massive profits, and no wonder they can sell TVs for 49p the price they charge. Just shows you dunnit ?

The students who can't afford a TV (priced from 39.99 in their local Tescos), but when they saw one for 49p, bought 80, plus delivery at a grand total of 44.15.

The people, who despite all the legal aspects of contract law being explained to them, say I don't care I got a contract innit ?

The people who get aggressive to Tesco, Viking, Staples and other customer service representatives, when it is pointed out to them that no matter what it says on the internet, they cannot actually have the product for free ?

Enough is enough. You all ticked the box agreeing to the terms and conditions which clearly say if there is a pricing mistake they will not honour it........take them to Court you will undoubtedly be the loser. Take a deep breath and forget about it... I am sure you will all get your money back. I love this site, have saved and enjoyed myself in doing so. I have been amazed at peoples generosity in sharing. Many thanks to the thread on Car Recovery with Norwich Union,Travel information, Flightchecker, discount codes and the host of other wonderful information that people take the time to share with their experiences and knowledge. I have certainly gained in knowledge since logging on and am certainly more "financially aware". Thank you to everyone who contributes, but lets put this behind us now!

  • Those of you who are in the Granada region may have noticed that this matter has been broadcast on the Granada News just now!

The lady that was on it ordered 4 tellys and the presenter asked her whether she thought it was a genuine mistake....and guess what she said??

Yep, she thought it was a genuine offer! :rotfl:

Fair enough.... all I am hoping for is that companies be reasonable and don't take money from people's accounts until they are willing to provide what the customer is asking for. I don't think is this out of order in any way. It's the way a normal shop with real people serving real customers works so why not on internet sites?? I really think the law should say that once money is taken a contract has been undertaken. If it did then this situation would not arise. Argos have undertaken a business practice which is detrimental to both their customers and probably themselves too.

I admit to not reading the Argos T&C's before I ordered but now that I have read them I fully understand that Argos have not followed their own T&C's in that they should have contacted each customer before cancelling.

Personally I am annoyed they have my money in their bank accounts for no good reason.

I dont see how she though it was a genuine offer as even if Argos offer very good prices it would be suicide for the companay to offer them at a stupid price.

Maybe they should offer the customers a free £10 voucher for any hassle caused
  • The money that these companies have in their accounts will earn interest - so if i have a website that can refuse anything for any reason but i get to keep all of the orders/money for a period of time must be a good thing yes ? .

I'd love to see the the amount of money generated in interest by these 'random' and 'silly' (but seemingly often) 'mistakes' versus the negative publicity it costs them . My guess is that they are quids in - don't forget that the board members have to lavish themselves somehow  and they won't let customers or staff getting in their way

    LOL!!!
I agree mate, but you missed "the people who have a go at everybody else". I've done it myself (ebayers), but lets try to be a little happier. We missed this one, some people are philosophical about it, some aren't. Well done to the original poster & lets get lucky next time.

I am going to speak to Argos tomorrow, and ask if as well as repaying people's £5s they would be willing to donate one TV to a childrens hospital in the name of MSE'ers as an apology

    Let's see how we go.

  • They sent me a letter...which was exactly the same as the email they sent me....I think I'd have appreceiated it more if they had sent me an email telling me they would have sent a letter but instead had donated the postage costs to a charity.

The chance of gettting a TV, DVD Recorder and stand for 49p were about as realistic as petrol prices in the uk going down to £2.00 a gallon, however, I did "purchase" just for the slight chance it may have happened. However; it didn't occur and I'm really surprised on the written response I received which I did not expect, so on that side hats off to them on the way they dealt with this.

It would have been even better if they had taken our money once goods were about to be despatched rather than straight away.

As said they pick and choose there terms and conditions that suit them, at no time have they ever offered the tv they just cancelled.

Its about time this area of the law was clarified, at what point do you enter into a contract? mistake or no mistake companies shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
