Well I got a reply from my letter before action yesterday (they ignored my preliminary letter). They've credited my account with 50% of what I asked for and have said they will not refund any more charges (they still owe me over £300) and that if need be for legal reasons they can prove their costs. So the upshot is that I started my claim with MCOL yesterday! I'll let you know how things go

Hi
Im really interested to know how you do get on. Im still waiting for my reply to my thanks but no thanks to their offer of 50%. They have until the 16th to reply. I have offered to settle at 400.00 instead of 475 plus interest, so will let you know what happens hopefully next week.
Good luck0 -
Hi all,
i have just recieved my statemnet from these people and my original purchase in 1997 was for £199.99, the current balance is £1630.63!
most of that was incurred by insane interest rates on the agreement, it was a store card basically with Road user/Motorworld..
a couple of things....
what does: Re-class credit adj mean? i see fugures like 136.45- but no change to the balance??
i have several letter charges which i can claim back i think but nearly the whole debt remaining is due to interest of an extortionate amount... guessing there is little i can do about that??
any advise much appreciated!
i have only just realised i was paying up to £47 a month interest on a £1700 debt!0 -
anyone know? i dont want to get my claim wrong!

Hi was wondering how anyone who has claimed with MCOL against clydesdale financial services have got on. we all seem to have the same bog standard reply
50% of cost refunded, charges fair etc.
has anyone got to court or won against them yet.

Have just been looking on the consumer action website and have found out that Clydesdale Financial Services were taken over by Barclays!! It'll probably be worth our while reading through some of the Barclays threads to see how they get on (seeing as there isnt much info about on CFS).

this is my first time so not sure how to ask a question: we borrowed a LOT of money from the RBS in 1997 @ fixed rate 9.12% business term loan with a BIG penalty if we didnt complete the term. After 6 years interest rates had fallen so much we decided to pay the penalty and reorganise the loan. We ended paying as much in extra interest as the penalty = i.e. we were penalised twice. We now wonder if we can reclaim anything??0
