I used the London address as I think there are different rules for Scotland.

Anyone had any luck with CFS? I'm still waiting for my list of charges from them, just wondering what their usual strategy is. Cant find any up to date info on CAG and this is the only thread on MSE.

  • I sent my first letter to clydesdale financial services, after a very nice girl actually just sent me out my statements with no charge ( bet they would be pleased).
I have recieved my response today. I requested 561.00 which was 475 plus interest. I have been offered 222.50 which is a reduction of my charges apparently by 50%, as an offer of goodwill .with a letter saying to advise me that no further charges will be removed, and I can take my complaint to the independant finance and leasing association.

I dont want to accept 222.00, should I send second letter or go to the finance and leasing association as they suggest.
    thanks
  • After recieving my statements from clydesdale, after a phone call, and not payng £10.00 for them, I sent off fisrt letter claiming 475.00 plus interest which equated to 563.26.
I recieved a reply today saying my account had been credited with 222.00 as a gesture of goodwill.
Im still refusing this offer and am sending second letter saying I will settle for 400.00.

Keep us informed jorodgers. I sent off my letter asking for list of charges but have not received a reply yet. Still within the 40 days though. They have banked my £10 cheque.

  • Hi I will do.
I actually rang the company and asked for statements. Avery nice girl had them sent out to me within 4 days, and didn't charge me.

I dont suppose clydesdale would be that thrilled with her if they knew.

In the letter they have sent me. They have informed me that "no further charges will be removed from m account"

I am taking this as usual speel to persuade people to not go any further.

Hi Jorodgers-good for you, keep at them. I sent my letter before action today, I didnt even get a reply from my preliminary. I'm resolute that I'm not moving an inch!

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a bit of advice please. I started my claim procedure with Clydesdale financial services, recieved my list of charges and manual interventions-there was 20 M/I's listed which were nearly all phonecalls where they had rung me at home and I had paid by debit card some of the otherw were recieving my subject access letter etc.

I totalled everything up and asked for £625 worth of late payment charges back. They ignored my letter, so I sent a letter before action. I recieved this back from them today:

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the above numbered account.
I note your dissatisfaction concerning the charges applied to your account. I would like to take this opportunity to confirm that the charges applied have been done so in accordance with the terms and conditions of your signed credit agreement where we have been required to write to you due to non-payment.

Clydesdale Financial Services would wish to assure you that our charges are representative of actual losses incurred by us where customers fail to maintain their account in accordance with the terms of their finance agreement. Should it become necessary for legal reasons, we can demonstrate the actual administrative costs incurred.

I can confirm that having reviewed the charges applied to your account the decision has been taken to credit 50% of all charges incurred back to your account. Therefore I can confirm that after taking into account of £325 back to your account, your new balance is £309 at todays date.

Following the office of fair trading report into arrears charges applied to customers accounts Clydesdale Financial Services have removed half of all charges applied to your account. as a result the total amount of charges applied to your account are now less than the value given in OFT guidelines of £12.00

It is felt that Clydesdale Financial Services have acted fairly in responding to all issues and concerns raised and would add that no further charges will be removed from your account.

So where do i stand now?? Do i go ahead and make a claim for the rest of the money or is this the end of the road? Any advice on this letter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Go ahead and claim the remainder of your charges. It is interesting that they state they will disclose their true costs if necessary and there is no better place to do this than in court in front of a judge. The banks do not do this, they dont want to. :)
