What dog do you have? Rottweiler, he's about 2.5

Why did you get your dog? for protection - it was a bad area!

Where did you get it? a rescue cetre

What does it eat? dry food (kirkland) leftovers, he loves cheese, doggy treats and bones to chew.

How much does it cost you weekly? we buy a big bag of food and it lasts about 1.5 months. not a clue with all the treats we buy for our boy. (and he is not a fat boy, before you ask!)

Do you leave it alone? yes, we both work shifts, so at times he is alone. he also sleeps in the kitchen on his own.

Work/holiday arrangements? we plan to take him camping with us. when at work he stays in his bedroom with chew toy and fresh water.

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? we are trying obedience training, he is a quick learner where treats are concerned and getting better, but we still have issues with other dogs. he loves the water, although we have not seen him swim, we are saving that for when its warmer so if he needs help we can get in and teach where possible.

Anything else you'd like to say. i was a cat lover and not keen on dogs, but since getting our baby i have been truely converted. dogs are fantastic and i love our walks. read as much as you can before you get one, so you start on the right foot as leader. good luck and enjoy - i know you will.

Where did you get it? Shes a rescue - she was found in a skip!

What does it eat? Eukeneuba for Jack russells

How much does it cost you weekly? food £2ish. Frontline £10/4months. Insurance £25/month with petplan. Treats, chews and toys - loads. House repairs - loads :)

Do you leave it alone? Yes for short periods. She has a cage for her own safety.

Work/holiday arrangements? Haven caravans that take pets! A friend or MIL takes her if were going to be out all day.

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? Lots of walks and obedience training. Were on the waiting list for agility.

Anything else you'd like to say? I love my doggy!

What dog do you have? Jack Russell Cross

Why did you get your dog? Wanted one

Where did you get it? Rescue Centre

What does it eat? pedigree chum dry, and roast dinner, and we have to be really careful with sweets, as he will stick his nose in and chew away.

How much does it cost you weekly? £5

Do you leave it alone? Yes, no more than 4-5 hours, but he usually comes to work with me

Work/holiday arrangements? Work with me most days, my parents when we are on holiday, or we take him with us

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? Walks and play
  • What dog do you have?
1x Ridgeback Cross & 1x German Shep Cross (Both Poundies!)

Why did you get your dog?
Because they both looked really cute, and if we didnt they'd have been put down after a couple of days! :( Plus we wanted to give some lonely pups a new home!

    Where did you get it?
From a pound which was horrible and dirty and smelly and very unhygenic!

    What does it eat?
Dry puppy complete food from a local farm!

How much does it cost you weekly?
£5 (ish) mainly for dental sticks (Food costs £15 for a huge bag lasting about a month! :D )

    Do you leave it alone?
    Sometimes for training purposes!

    Work/holiday arrangements?
None, we dont go away and someones always at home if someones working!

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)?
Agility with the ridgeback and the german shep we've only just got but she'll be brilliant at agility!!!! We've seen her shine at jumping in the grass etc! :)

Anything else you'd like to say.
They're my little sweeties and get along so well! They are both cry babies because if you go to the loo and lock the door for 5 minutes they cry outside it until you come out again! They both get up at 8am and jump on us but then have a 10 minute cuddle before we get up.
They are both well toilet trained and very clever pups! the ridgeback is 1yr old and the german shep is 10months! :D
They are both very timid with strangers because they were both abused by men (we think, due to them barking at men and weeing on them).

PS they both love there teddy bears! :)
I'm getting married in August 2015

    I have some questions:

What dog do you have? 2 Siberian Huskies

Why did you get your dog? Had dogs all my life loved the breed ever since I can remember

Where did you get it? Reputable Breeders

What does it eat? Ever heard of the BARF diet? well basically its raw meat and fresh veg in balance its what their breeder fed them and I carried on with this.

How much does it cost you weekly? I bulk buy from a wholesaler its cheaper but its still about £15-£20 a week but then again a large can of dog food costs around 80p+. £21.50 a month pet insurance for both.

Do you leave it alone? Not for long periods, but if bored or unentertained a husky can destroy and furnishing in no time. If i'm going to be away for more than I would normally my mum or dad pop in and keep them happy!

Work/holiday arrangements? I couldn't leave my babes in kennels so family help out

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? A bored husky is a destructive husky but letting them off the lead is a no no they are a flight risk but walks are a must they require lots of exercise. In the privacy of my 7 foot fenced garden (they are known to jump walls and dig very good escape artists!) they have the run of the place, we play games but if they aren't interested it's no good(huskies are a very stubborn breed)

Anything else you'd like to say. For all i've said they are (flight risk, escapologists etc) I adore mine they are loving and very intelligent, fun to have, hard work but rewarding. Some say huskies aren't loyal they'd let a burglar in as long as they had a stroke out of it I disagree mine are loyal companions and I love em!

  • What dog do you have? An English Springer Spaniel, who is called Jerry

Why did you get your dog? Partners Choice as he had one previously and really missed him, I was reluctant as I thought (and still do think!) That Springers are more of a working Dog and it is A LOT of work to ensure they get enough attention/excercise/don't get bored!

Where did you get it? - A Springer Spaniel Breeder which we made sure we checked out properly first

What does it eat? Doors & Door Frames given half a chance. & Wagg Working Dog food as it is the only food which doesn't give him an upset stomach or really bad breath!

How much does it cost you weekly? Probably about £15 inc treats/food/insurance

Do you leave it alone? Rarely as he gets too bored and is very destructive when entertaining himself!

Work/holiday arrangements? - Holiday will be Kennels i'm affraid as our family aren't into dogs!

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? Just big Country walks with streams for him to swim in and plenty of space for him to spring around in. Find he enjoys walks more if we come accross another Springer he can play with

Anything else you'd like to say. If you have a gut feeling a type of dog will be too much for your family trust it!! I love Jerry and have got very attached to him but wish we'd had a calmer breed! Training is essential and do it straight away, we left it too long and are now trying to undo all the bad habits!
    Back Comping after a 2yr break! :j
