What dog do you have?
Staffy Cross - Rio
Northern Inuit - Wilo
Why did you get your dog?
I always wanted a dog but my mum wouldn't let me have one. As soon as i got my own place i bought a dog.
Then when i lost my job, Rio wouldn't leave me alone and i realised he missed having no company during the day so i bought Wilo as company.
Where did you get it?
Rio came from Manchester Dogs Home
Wilo has a high hip score so couldn't breed so i rehomed her from a friend of the breeder.
What does it eat?
They both eat a BARF diet. Raw bones and raw veg / peelings. Plus whatever they manage to steal when i blink.
How much does it cost you weekly?
For food about £2 which is just petrol.
Do you leave it alone?
Yep, when i'm at work or have to go out.
Work/holiday arrangements?
in summer they're outside. i built them an 8x4x4 kennel and put a paddling pool out for them. When its cold i lock the patio doors open enough for them to get in and out but not big enough for a person.
Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)?
no, they're both too stupid.
Anything else you'd like to say.
Northern Inuits are the petulant ASBO riddled children of the dog world.0 -
What dog do you have?
Two scottish terriers (6yrs & 3yrs)
Why did you get your dog?
I always wanted a dog but my parents wouldn't let me have one as a kid. I bought my first scottie at 35 and haven't looked back!
Where did you get it?
From a breeder in Bristol. My younger dog came from a breeder in Dorset.
What does it eat?
They both eat a BARF diet (raw chicken, tripe, lamb, veg) plus biscuits and the occasional treats.
How much does it cost you weekly?
Food costs about £10 per week for both. Other expenses include insurance (£27 per mth for both).
Do you leave it alone?
Yep, when i'm at work or have to go out.
Work/holiday arrangements?
They're left alone when I'm at work, but I always come home at lunchtime to take them for a walk.
Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)?
Both have done KC Good Citizen. Have tried agility with the youngest, but it's not ideal with a low-to-ground breed! Both have had modest success in the showring.
Anything else you'd like to say.
I love my dogs and wouldn't be without them. I know it's a corney old line but "a dog makes a house a home"!Nice to save.0 -

Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? no
Anything else you'd like to say. I'm assuming that you work full time and are concerned about your dog being left alone, what i will say is that a dog easily adapts to a routine, but if you are still concerned then try considering hiring a dog walker (about £10 per hour)0 -

Where did you get it? A breeder locally

Do you leave it alone? Maximum is around 4 hours, he's such a good boy he sits on his chair watching the world go by and sleeping
Work/holiday arrangements? I work part time. He lives at my ex's house who works full time (odd arrangement, but it works and I still have daily access). When he is away, he comes to my house, when I am away, he walks him twice a day.
Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)? He loves running for a tennis ball hit by a tennis racquet
Anything else you'd like to say.
He is my lovely boy and I wouldn't swap him for anything. He's 7 and quite possibly the best thing to ever happen to me."Stay Wonky":D

I have some questions:
What dog do you have?
2 staffy x: Floyd is a staffy x something and is about 9 years old. Daisy is staffy x english bull terrier and a week short of her first birthday.
Why did you get your dog?
Good question!! We both decided we had the time, the money and the love to give. We live in a reasonably sized house on the edge of a village so a great place to walk dogs. I abandon my OH to go off riding a lot, and it gave him something to do.
Where did you get it?
Both are rescues. Wouldn't have an animal (apart from my horse) any other way.
What does it eat?
Complete dog feed. The crusts from my OH's breakfast toast. Occasional treats.
How much does it cost you weekly?
Not alot - about £5 each per week feed. They're not insured (eek - must get that done) but I'd expect that to be about £20 a month. Annual boosters around £40 a year. Wormers and de-fleaing as required - I can't remember how much. Then a fortune on leads, toys, nappy sacks, etc.!
Do you leave it alone?
Yes. I work full time. OH is at college part-time so they get left for a few hours 3 days a week. Otherwise we try to ensure at least one of us is with them.
Work/holiday arrangements?
As above for work! Holiday - local kennels just down the road. We don't go away a lot though, and in the UK we try and take them with us.
Do you do anything with it (agility/flyball etc)?
Daisy will do some agility when she's old enough. They've done some training classes, but money is a bit tight at the moment. Just plenty of long walks, play and love really.
Anything else you'd like to say.
I'd always encourage people to look at rescue places if they are considering getting a dog. They are usually over-run, and our two are just the best! I'd also say don't be put off by the reputation that staffies have. In my experience, they are just the loveliest dogs!0 -
LOL - just looked back a few pages and I'd already posted!! D'oh!0
