The machines where i live give you correct amount of time for the money you put in so and I totally understand why you'd like the same. I don't see why on a moneysaving site anyone would disagree with you

I had an annoying experience on a temporary carpark set up at a train station. I was given a ticket by a machine at the barrier as I drove in and then when i was leaving i had to put the ticket into another machine to calculate how much i owed. The original ticket's time was about 15 minutes behind the machines time so it was adding extra charge to everyone. This was a short term carpark where it was expensive and the overcharge amounted to about a quid or more. There was nobody around to complain to so I had to let it go.

Because it is full of trolls and/or people who don't read the title of the board when they are replying to threads.

They also don't think through the counter-arguments they give.

    Such is life

........ you don't disagree with the notion that the money was "stolen", as the OP put it???? Anyone on a moneysaving site - or indeed any other site - would be able to see that it's clearly not theft.

Theres moneysaving then theres taking the !!!!.

Why can people not comment when they disagree just because it doesn't conform to some warped concept of saving money?

    Whats happend to free speech?

I am with HarryV and Taxiphil, it would be nice and far simpler if we could load any parking meter with coins and it would give us the surplus time, instead of just in effect 'stealing' the change! Dont snap his head off, he was merely giving an opinion!

No-one is biting anyone's head off. The OP said that his money was being stolen. Tim suggested it was a police matter, which theft would have to be. You've softened the "stealing" quote with apostrophes and the qualifier "in effect" - if the OP had done that then the view may not have been so polarised. But he didn't, so it's fair to assume he thought he was a victim of theft.

On to your separate point. In some circumstances, to some people, it may be simpler to :-

either a) be able to work out that they will need 27 minutes parking and therefore put find £1.62 for the meter

or b) find £1.62 in their pocket and be allocated 27 minutes of parking time.

Personally though, I can't see what's so difficult or contentious about having £1.80 change when you know the cost is £1.80, or why you'd call it theft if you couldn't find the right change.

I don't think HarryV seriously meant theft in the true sense of the word, you are taking things far too literally and concentrating far too much on the use of apostrophes and softeners. We cannot all be as articulate as you Mr Ajaxgeezer!

...then why is he here writing it? He could have not used the word 'stealing' but he did. I still think that he geniunely believes he is a victim of theft.

Frankly I can't see any difference between those parking machines which only allow fixed periods of time, and something like booking a squash court, where you pay for an hour's use, only play for half an hour, and then demand your money back for the unused time.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Anne - they are just wind-up merchants, look at their post history and see where they have given useful advice - I'm betting you won't find much different from the pedantic comments displayed in this thread.
