Further, all the ones around here have the "facility" to give change, it is just disabled.

So your oven with a digital clock should be able to compute how long a turkey should be cooked for?
It amazes me how people think technology can do anything and just because it has a microchip in it then it must be able to do xyz...
As for giving change they probably disable this as they wouldn't get filled that often and if someone didn't get their change that would lead to more people like the op moaning.0 -

Take this from somebody that knows;) , if it has the electronics "muscle" to run a clock and a money counter/change facility (albeit disabled), it has enough to determine how many minutes to add to the current time at the programmed rate based on the total £'s inserted.
So in response to your post, it already has plenty of intelligence as it is already using it! Muppet
BTW, my oven doesn't have a digital clock - does that mean it wont work?
As for giving change, I don't believe the OP or myself said change should be given - as you have shown the intelligence to work out, doing so would require them to be loaded with coins which would be counter-productive.
MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

no, others passed comment on giving change - as for someone who 'knows' you're obviously so confident in your superior knowledge that you have to take to insulting people to distract from your blantantly inaccurate statements, whilst it's a fairly simple calculation to pro rate the money it doesn't mean that the machine is programmed to do this or capable in the slightest so this may not be the councils choice at all - muppet.0

I never got a reply, did you ring the police then as you think it's theft?0

Since these machines can quite clearly recognise the value all of the coins put in and compute the end time then it's not a massive leap of imagination to have them giving pro-rata stay times.
Of course, the way it is done means that the system collects the maximum revenue. If you want to stay for 20 minutes or 5 minutes, you pay for 30 minutes.Happy chappy0 -

No that's right, you didn't get a reply; however you've got one now.
I had a quick look through your recent posts and the common thread is that they are inflamatory or just contain smartassed one-liners, or comments attempting to show you are right or cleverer than someone else.
I apologise if I didn't look any further back than 50 of your 1,124 ( as at 4pm today) but I was beginning to lose the will to live reading your "advice."
Most other people managed to offer a view or generally add something useful to the conversation thread.
Do please close the door on your way out!0 -

Fed up with a product provider? Need to get it off your chest? Just have a rant about poor service and let others know.
This is exactly the purpose of this board. If you don't like reading moans and complaints I suggest you peruse a different board.0 -
Blacksheep1979 wrote: »The reason they don't do it is because it would cost more to set up and they don't think people will go whingeing about 40p here and there - they could always put the price up to £1 per half hour would you be happy then?
The 40p was just an EXAMPLE to illustrate my point.
This IS a complaints / rant board so I have every right to whinge on it.
Why would raising the price to £1 per half hour make any difference if someone has £1.30 on them and they want to buy £1.30 worth or parking?
I don't care what price the parking is as long as the machine prints you a ticket allowing you to park for the time you have paid for.
Clearly you are another poster who is more interested in making smartassed comments than reading and understanding the original post.0 -
To everyone who participated constructively in this thread THANK YOU.
For those others who were more interested in contradicting people or making clever comments, THANK YOU ALSO. You were great entertainment. Just a brief scan through your recent posts in other boards shows the sort of answers you give time and time again.0 -
No that's right, you didn't get a reply;
That tends to be because I'll write the truth about a situation!
You were banging on about it being theft. Everyone knows what to do when they've had something stolen!
Or is this your way of finally admitting it's not really theft! To everyone who participated constructively in this thread THANK YOU.
Is that constructively or didn't disagree with you?0
