I shall have to try that this week - it sounds yummy :D and quite like something I had in a restaurant once AGES ago and wanted to try and recreate :D

    Cheers!

  • Also if you get sick of chopping onions and you have a food processor, whack them in that with just a drop of water and then freeze them in serving size portions. For some reason the water makes it easier to chop and then all you do is bung them in the frying pan, casserole dish, whatever, from frozen. Easy peasy and no smelly hands :D
  • Thanks everybody!

What about this recipe? It's a delia and I can highly recommend it.

I also make this one as well

Both use red onions, but white onions are just as nice - although you may find a tsp of brown sugar or two helps the caramalisation process.

    Hi fizzle,

I keep onions outside in the garage and find they usually last quite a while, but these older threads might give you some ideas of what to do with them:

Clean them and slice them ( If you have a food processor it is easier) .

Then put them in an air tight container or sealed bag and freeze them.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

We like them roasted whole with a joint of meat (or chopped in half if they are really big). They take about 1 hour. We also like them steamed for about 20 mins with the other veg.
