Hi SPL,
There's an older thread with lots of suggestions for using up onions so I've added your thread to it as it helps to keep all the ideas together.

Hi All
I have been to Mr T's today and they had reduced their bags of onions as the sale by date was up.
Well, at 5p a bag i got all excited and bought two bags of normal and one bag of red onions.
Any idea what i can do with them all now?
I usually only add them to food when cooking so they will go off before i get round to using them all.
Thanks for your help

Raw - but they stick together so I usually put roughly one onion's worth in each bag. Then just cook from frozenworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi Little Miss Naughty,
This thread should give you some ideas:
Loads of onions
And this might help with freezing them:
Freezing onions
I'll add your post to the first one later to keep all the suggestions together.

hi
i've just been given 8 MASSIVE onions (about the size of footballs!!!) and i just wondered if anyone had any ideas on what i could do with them as it seems such a waste to just let them rot
i've tied string around their tops and have hung them from nails in my shed, but obviously i know they won't keep for ever...
so....what would you guys use them for? the only thing i can come up with is onion soup, but i don't fancy living off that till next september!! and am i right in thinking that once i cut into one of them, i can chop it up and freeze it till i need anymore?0 -
They will keep well for several weeks if not months. But you can freeze them. Use a food processor to chop them and freeze in usable amounts.0

Hi!
There are recipes for stuffed onions, I think just like stuffed peppers, and I saw on Saturday Kitchen where one of the chefs baked one in pastry, I tried to find the recipe afterwards and couldn't, but I'm sure it shouldn't be too hard, I have to admit that I haven't tried it though!
Edit: mind you, yours might be a little too big to do this sort of thing!
You can def freeze them chopped, I'm not sure whether you have to tray-freeze then put them in a box/bag so they don't all stick together.
Also how about making some onion marmalade or chutney?**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D
