prettypennies and vanilla big hugs for your DS's. Apparently the slapped cheek virus is preceded by 2-3 weeks of sickness and diarrhoea, so if there have been no other symptoms, i would say it is more a reaction to something. Could there be anything rough in his bed? I notice DS gets a red cheek one side only as there is some velcro on his coat that rubs that side.
Also, we have both got really dry skin in the last few weeks. I thought it was me being pregnant at 1st, but DS has dry red patches on his tummy, back, arms and legs, and dry skin on his face. E45 is not doing much to be honest, so i have been using hardly any products on him.
I have managed to get the WM on with some of DH's work jeans, grab a cup of raspberry leaf tea (might as well use up the stuff i have in from last time even though it is out of date) and play for a bit with DS.
He spent about half an hour upstairs moving a pair of socks from the bottom of the wardrobe, to the linen basket, then back again. He gets really obsessive in his playing sometimes - strange boy. Then a paddy cos i wouldn't let him carry DH's jeans down the stairs - i think not as i don't want a trip to A and E or the maternity ward while DH is out at work.
I am in one of those really can't be faffed moods. Will keep pottering though as i don't want loads to do on Tuesday when i am alone. Think it is the weather though, as it is wet and miserable here.
Kaz 10 loads of washing - eek. I try not to do more than 3 or 4 in a day just cos the WM would give me a headache, but at least it is done. Perhaps try the one load a day method now that you are caught up again. There is always more though isn't there

Morning all and a huge well done to the few of you who have done great with your flying - vanilla and soappie especially.
I really need to get back on track flying wise before disarray arises so I have done the bathroom this morning, stripped my bed, put the washing on the maiden, done my dalies and refilled the washer.
Going for a shower now. DS2 and 3 playing really nicely.
List for today:
Pin troussers
clean downstairs loo
clean bedroom
hoover downstairs
wash bathroom floor
ironing
hear DS3 read
write 2 birthday cards
letter to school
make cake - freeze for cake saleprettypennies wrote: »Someone mentioned earlier (sorry looked back for name and couldn't find it again) slapped cheek syndrome. I didn't realise that this was also called Parvovirus B19. Our local health authority recently sent a letter around the schools about this and some other viruses, as than are seeing more cases than normal at present. Maybe a trip to the dcos tomorrow would be wise I think.
that was me. Slapped check is easy to stop really - it looks like the child has been slapped on the check - bright red. This then turns more rash like and can spread to the trunk and then limb over a few days. In the week before the child maybe a bit off colour, mild temp, sore throat, slight upset tummy but nothing much hence why it spreads so easily. If you google image slap check you will see pictures of kids with it.

very interesting the article about too much fruit - I wonder how many people realise that a 5-a-day portion is what fits in the palm of that persons hand. Toddlers hands are small so a portion say of grapes for them is not very big at all.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

   Just stopping for a cuppa and a rant
Havent managed to start downstairs yet as while finishing hoovering the landing I discovered my fruit and veg freezer was partly defrosted as the door was not shut properly! Methinks DD has been robbing from the open bag of berries in there. Have thrown half away the really soft stuff, currently cooking up tomatoes and will have to make loads of jam when I come in from work tonight as there was loads of fruit - 2 packs of cherries, 2 blackberries, 2 1/2 bags fruits of the forest mix, 2 black forest mix, 1 raspberries and I cant even get to the 9lb of blackcurrants as it would take too long to chip the ice away from the drawer. So think 2 batches, very berry jam and cherry jam - and only if I remember to buy more sugar on way too work. Anyone for homemade jam next week :rotfl: . And looks like OH will be cooking up veg tomorrow.
Well tea drunk so off I go again rush rush rushMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
morning.
Kitchen has been swished.
front window sill has been cleared & cleaned.
DD is in the bath & ds will go in soon.
I am having a very slow start to my Sunday tbh.
Need to wash towels after kids have been on the bath & concentrate on the ironing this afternoon.
Also am cooking a roast for dinner tonight.
Working 5 days this week instead of 4 sow ill have to squeeze my flying into the evenings.
How do those of you who work outside the home & have young shildrem cope with all the housework.
I work 9.30-2.30 each day (most weeks don't work Mondays). In the morning I am lucky in the DW gets emptied. Then I get home & I feel like I rush around but get nothing done!

Vanilla hope your DS is better soon, doesn't sound well at all poor lamb.
Prettypennies, however natural Ecover is changing to it causes a reaction for my partner, because changing to ANY does, he's always had problem skin so I have to stick to the same products all the time and use less so it rinses out properly. Piriton or similar given orally might help the rash but more importantly will stop him scratching/rubbing which will make it worse.
Dusty, know what you're saying completely when it comes to the F&V thing but these are the guidelines I read http://www.5aday.nhs.uk/WhatCounts/PortionSizes.aspx they don't state what is really suitable for children and I think that is because they don't know. I think many are worried about not giving their children enough fruit and veg because of this which is a worry if parents are overfeeding fruit and veg, maybe that's one of the causes of 'toddler diahorrea'. Little Matthew was here on Monday and he had a sore bum, when we worked it out he'd had 8 maybe more icecubes worth of fruit and veg the day before, that'll be why then!
Right, working out a list as I've only done the DW and WM so far, I'll edit this post with it when I have worked through it.One day I might be more organised...........

, rarely put the tv on to watch something (makes an exception for the new series of waking the dead!) and if I do often fall asleep watching it, often put the oven on at 11 at night to make cakes/biscuits for the next days pack ups, never in bed before midnight and up again at 6....... stop - must go got 26 mins to get the rest of downstairs done - 2 living rooms, dining room, kitchen, utility and cloakroom :rotfl: NO of course it wont all get done :rotfl:
