Just received my SIM today. Once you've registered, call and ask about the 1000 free texts, the customer service sales rep will go and speak to their manager and will then come back and allocate 1,000 free texts to you to be used in 1 month. However you do have to top up before you can use them. I topped up £5 just now and the 1,000 texts are on there ready to be used.

it said in the first post that top up wasn't required.that's why i ordered one in the first place

Ever noticed that MSE towers posters always put their post on top of the OP ? They could have added their useful input inside the 1st post (as they used to do before) or add their post as a second post.
Not surprising they have so many thanks to their credit.

Neither can I - even though I have 90p of my free registration credit - havn't heard anything about my 1000 free texts - the automated registration thingy (which seems very good by the way) didn't mention it - does anyone know if you get a text or something to say you can use them? Bit unhappy

The customer service told me that I must top up at least £10 to get the 1000 free texts.

The person I spoke to said I didn't have to top up to receive the free texts however in order to use free texts orange requires you to have credit on the phone so I had to top up in order to use them. £5 is a small price to pay to receive 1000 texts and then still be able to use the £5 afterwards plus whatever bonus you get for registering as a new customer. However I did read somewhere that you're supposed to top up £10 in order to get the 1000 free texts but the person I spoke to said it was fine for me to top up only £5.

The SIM is pay as you go so in your case yes you'd get another number because as far as I'm aware your contract would need to be ending for you to be able to use the same number on pay as you go.

I don't see why not. I got a new number, when you register it they give you the option of keeping an existing number or getting a new one.
