Most of the hotels are within (or on, to be more pedantic) the airport perimeter and can be reached for free on the non-Hoppa buses as well as the (non-free) Hoppas. There are some exceptions of course.

no thats not the case. It includes the roads surrounding the airport such as the Bath Road where most of the major hotels are located.

Officially "The Perimeter Road" is inside the airport's razor wire (and the bit where you used to be able to drive across British Airways runway spur, for a short cut, has been closed. Surprise surprise.) The ordinary buses are free further out than this. When I had to go there regularly, a special treat was catching the bus that goes through the cargo tunnel.

Put Dartford & Lakeside into the appropriate part of "Traveline".

This should throw up Ensign bus X80 that shuttles over the Dartford crossing between Bluewater & Lakeside (interesting names for former cement works) now temples to consumerism..

Then she could try out my adventures.

Is mum any good at map reading?

If you are not careful you might bankrupt her or lose her:D

    Harry

PS My pass allows free use of the Tilbury Ferry, a nice short cruise over the Estuary - Gravesend has more to offer than Tilbury.

Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch all have 9.30 start times. This makes us keen ones into Twerlies if we try to get on before time!

There is a great open top bus from Bournemouth to Swanage but you need to be at the head of the queue on a sunny day to get on & then get back.
Some of the newer bus routes remain a mystery to me as they go all round the houses and I can't find a time table but others are great.

Being a regular visitor to Swanage, I know only too well of their 9.30 start times and in many cases, departure times have been conveniently changed to 9.15 ish, so we have to wait around.

BUT, if you are crafty, you should study a time table, and notice exactly where the bus-stop is AFTER 9.30. Then board before our free time and PAY a small fare to that stop a feew miles down the road. Then when you get there and should leave the bus, show your pass to the driver and stay on. You will get a seat as you will have asked to extend the journey before you've alighted and therefore before new passengers have tried to board.

There is NO legal reason why you shouldn't do this.
