Hello,
Hope someone can help. (I've just realised this morning) Hubby has been putting damp bibs/baby clothes in the washing machine with the door closed for a couple of days . I have opened the machine to do a load and the stuff inside has mould on it. Some of it has lots of mould on them.
I am soaking them in non-bio in the sink at the moment. But how do I get the stains out - or will I have to throw the lot? I am wary as to whether I should keep them as I know mould can be dangerous and it is on my babys things.
Any advice would be appreciated. And Hubby will be instructed to put things in the wash bins in future!0 -
once items are washed in the machine then as far as I know then the mould spores will have been destroyed so they will no longer be any danger to your baby. However I don;t think there is any way of geting the remaining stains out. My FIL has a nasty habit of putting soaking wet screwed up flannels in the wash basket withour telling anyone. He managed to ruin to of DD's tops and a couple of mine!

Hi rocketdog,
There's an earlier thread with lots of tips that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the suggestions together.

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but I was wondering whether anyone has any tips on how to get mould marks off a white bathroom blind which is one of the fabric sort.
Can I do a "Kim and Aggie" on it and use white vinegar/bi carb, or something similiar?
thanks in advance!Ellie

Hi Ellie2758
I looked up a few threads which should help you
Getting rid of mould on fabric
Removing mould from windows
Getting mould off net curtains
I'll add your thread to the first one later to keep all the information together
Thanks:)

Not green but half bleach and half water kills most moulds.
or more expensive but 'greener'
2 teaspoons tea tree oil in 2 cups water
or just plain white vinegar might shift it. You need to leave it on a while.
I make up a spray bottle.
Hope one of those helps. No longer half of Optimisticpair

I found that the spray they sell in B&Q for removing mould and mildew from tile grouting etc works quite well on fabric - rather better than bleach. We had some mildew spots on the blind in the bathroom and I sprayed it with that - they haven't quite gone but it's barely noticeable now
i have Lakeland's version of this, which is brilliant on tiles, but do I need to remove it from the blind afterwards and if so, how?
thanksEllie

Hi Ellie
What do the instructions on the bottle say? Might be worth trying a small spot first as a tester and let it dry overnight? Just an idea. xA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

They say to rinse off tiles etc with water. Should I maybe run the shower over the blind when it is all done?
Will test small spot as you suggest, but the spray is supposed to work (and does) after 30 mins....zippychick wrote: »Hi Ellie
