Yep you read right, getting mould off clothes
finally managed to get to the bottom of my washing basket, and there must have been some wet towels in there as my fave top is now covered in mould spots all over the front, its been washed twice and its still there.
Is it ruined for good or is there some way to get rid of the mess on it?0 -

Unfortunately have some mildew spores all over a tablecloth and it is at the point of ruin!
What would you recommend in your moneysaving thrifty ways to remove this and save the day?I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!

But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

I found that the spray they sell in B&Q for removing mould and mildew from tile grouting etc works quite well on fabric - rather better than bleach. We had some mildew spots on the blind in the bathroom and I sprayed it with that - they haven't quite gone but it's barely noticeable nowIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Does it effect the colour of the material?I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!

Sorry the blind was white so can't tell. I assumed it was a white tablecloth you had but if it is coloured you would need to be careful. You could ask a dry cleaners if they could do anything? It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Unfortunately the dry cleaners can't so anything!
It is ivory so not too bad but if it bleaches it may be noticable. Guess it's a last ditch effort!
What is the active ingredient in this product? Maybe I can use that by itself?I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!

the dry cleaners wont do anyhting as you can never really get rid of mould - it may look clean but the spours will stay alive and still be in there or somrthing. My fella left his very exoensive suit in a bag, damp, and the dry cleaners said i should just throw it away.[STRIKE]Debt 01.01.2010 = £70,000[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Debt 01.02.2011 = £53,495 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Debt 05.05.2011 = £51,959 [/STRIKE]

"Try to brush off as much as possible (outdoors so that you do not spread more spores through the house) and if spots still remain, wash them once with detergent and water, then dry in the sun. If the stain remains, moisten with some lemon juice and then spread with salt and leave in the sun to dry, before rinsing thoroughly. Alternatively, you can use chlorine bleach: 2 tbsp of liquid bleach mixed with one quart of warm water and then sponged onto the stain or even soak the stained area in the solution. Leave it for 5-15 minutes before rinsing. Remember to always check colour-fastness and never use chlorine bleach on silk or wool."
