    Evening all :)

I have a bit of an issue and I know someone here will know the answer! I live in rented accomodation and I 'think' the thing I have on the bathroom window is called a roman blind. It has a string at the side you pull and it folds up towards the top of the window - and then you 'unpull' the string and it stretches out again. Actually pretty much like this one:
    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-9032.aspx?utm_source=GoogleShopping&utm_medium=GSF_NormalFeed&utm_campaign=GSF_TescoDirect&utm_content=203-9032

it's a cream material blind, like cotton or something and so all dirt shows up really easily. Well, since my fiance has moved in, with his mega hot 20-mins showers (do not even start me) and his inability to open the window after the shower (again do not start me!) there is now mould on the blind. Disgusting.

As it's the landlords and not mine I really don't want to destroy it, and I don't think I can take it apart to machine wash, it's got strings through it at various points and looks too complex for my poor brain. I've tried rubbing with a damp cloth but no dice.

So, does anyone know of how I can get mould off this and not ruin it??

I used this when I had mould spots on my bathroom curtains (DS kept leaving his wet toothbrush up against the curtain).

Worked perfectly, just seemed to eat away at it.

ah see I wasn't sure if a spray like that would be ok on a curtain...it didn't fade the colour or anything like that then?

No, they were fine. I left it on for 20 minutes then rinsed it off and washed that bit of the curtain with shampoo that was lying in the bathroom:eek:.

Might be worth trying on a tiny bit first just to check though.

great, thanks :) I'll give it a try, and just do a patch test first as you said.

Whoah! Yes, it does bleach colour. I sprayed it in my shower cubicle and accidentally sprayed my new teal bathmat which was ruined a few hours later by white bleach spots, make sure you rinse it off thoroughly after a short time!

I had the same problem with my roller blind. I used a brush and scrubbed with neat stardrops and a wee bit of water. Came off a treat and you would have to look closely to see any spots now.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

thanks for the updates - so it can bleach stuff. See, that wouldn't bother me if it was mine but since it's the landlords I really don't want to damage it.
Maybe might try the stardrops first, and if that doesn't work resort to the other stuff. I have stardrops in the house so can give it a try later.

  • Just got back from two week holiday to discover some of my laundry left in the utility has gone mouldy :o
The worst thing is a white cotton duvet cover - should I wash it on high or low temp .... I'm worried about stains but guess I need to kill the mould??
Thanks in advance - feel like crying :(
